Building Your First Deck
Hey there! If you are a new player in need of some deck building advice or a frustrated player looking for improvement, look no further. I will show you how to transform the starter deck from each of the 12 elements into a solid Level 3 AI killer so you can build a deck to take on the False Gods.

Choose your element:

The first thing to do with any starter deck is to see what cards work and do not work with the overall strategy for the element you have and the deck you plan on building from the starter. Your goal should be to make the most aggressive deck for the least amount of electrum in the least amount of time. Some decks are better at this than others, and some decks are cheaper to build. Don't worry if you feel you have chosen the "wrong" element, because there is no such thing! Click on the element of your choice to the left and let's get started.

Aether

:aetherbig
This is one of the most efficient builds you can make in the Aether element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 1x Abomination
  • 1x Lycanthrope
  • 1x Chaos Seed
  • 1x Nova
  • 1x Mutation
  • 4x Spark
  • 1x Parallel Universe
Now buy 4 Immortals and put them in the deck in place of three Amethyst Pillars. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Purchase a Dimensional Shield from the Bazaar to replace your Dagger, and buy three Aether Pillars to replace your Quantum Pillars. Now beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your creatures early and often, and play your Dim Shields when things look scary.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Air

:airbig

This is one of the most efficient builds you can make in the Air element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 3x Thunderstorm
  • 1x Flying Weapon
  • 1x Firefly Queen
  • 3x Firefly
  • 2x Fate Egg
Now buy 3 Wyrms, 1 Azure Dragon, and 5 Wind Pillar. Replace all non-Air cards and Quantum Pillars, but don't sell the Quantum Pillars. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Buy 1 Azure Dragon, then beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your creatures early and often. It's always better to play another creature instead of using Dive.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Darkness

:darknessbig

This is one of the best elements for grinding Level 3, because it wins fast and it wins often. The good news is you have almost all of the cards already! Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 3x Parasite
  • 1x Dusk Mantle
  • 2x Aether Pillar
  • 1x Spark
  • 1x Lightning
  • 1x Parallel Universe
  • 1x Immortal
Now buy 2 Black Dragons. Put them in the deck in place of both Aether Pillars. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Now beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. After the battle, purchase a Black Dragon from the Bazaar to replace a Quantum Pillar, but don't sell the Quantum Pillar. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your dragons and devourers early and often, steal any problematic shields or weapons when necessary and use Drain Life as a late game finisher. If your opponent has an Emerald Shield out, use Drain Life on his most dangerous creatures to take them out.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Death

:deathbig

This is one of the most aggressive builds you can build in the Death element. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 2x Vulture
  • 2x Boneyard
  • 1x Plague
  • 1x Bone Wall
  • 1x Sapphire Charger
  • 1x Graviton Mercenary
  • 1x Momentum
  • 1x Otyugh
Now buy four Poison and six Mummies. Put them in the deck, and then take out and sell three Gravity Pillars, three Skeletons and four Virus. Buy one Bone Dragon and two Bone Pillars, replacing three Quantum Pillars. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Buy a Bone Dragon and put it in your deck, replacing a Flesh Spider. Now beat the Level 1 and Level 2 quests and get the rewards. Afterwards, purchase a final Bone Dragon from the Bazaar to replace your Dagger, and the deck is finished.

Strategy is simple: play creatures early and often and poison your opponent to win as fast as possible.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Earth

:earthbig

This is one of the most efficient builds you can make in the Earth element for farming Level 3. In fact, this is largely considered to be the best deck possible for Level 3 farming! Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 1x Stone Dragon
  • 1x Titanium Shield
  • 2x Plate Armor
  • 1x Enchant Artifact
  • 2x Earthquake
  • 1x Cockatrice
  • 1x Forest Spirit
  • 1x Heal
Now buy 4 Graboids. Put them in the deck, sell 3 Emerald Pillars and 1 Horned Frog. While editing your deck, click on your mark and change it to Time. Now you can morph your Graboids into Shriekers! Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. Purchase 4 Stone Pillars from the Bazaar in place of your 3 Quantum Pillars and 1 Emerald Pillar. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your creatures early and often and don't look back. It won't last long. ;) Don't worry about burrowing your creatures unless there is an Otyugh who somehow gets his health above 3. Against Entropy opponents, try not to have an unburrowed creature if they have at least 8 :entropy quanta, as Antimatter can halt your advances quickly. Also be mindful of Maxwell's Demon, the direct counter card to your Shriekers.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Entropy

:entropybig

This is one of the most efficient builds you can make in the Entropy element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 1x Dissipation Shield
  • 2x Lycanthrope
  • 3x Chaos Seed
  • 3x Mutation
  • 1x Vulture
Now buy 2 Purple Dragon, 1 Abomination, and 6 Amethyst Pillar. You can't buy all of these at once, so buy what you can in place of your Death cards (sell those), then buy whatever you couldn't before. Put them in the deck, complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Buy 2 Abominations, then beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your creatures early and often and use Maxwell's Demon to deal with opposing Fireflies and dragons.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Fire

:firebig

This is one of the most inexpensive builds you can make in the Fire element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 2x Fire Spirit
  • 1x Fire Shield
  • 2x Deflagration
  • 1x Rain of Fire
  • 1x Immolation
  • 1x Freeze
  • 1x Blue Crawler
Now buy 2 Crimson Dragon and 2 Burning Pillar. Put them in the deck and take out all the Water cards, but make sure you keep one Rain of Fire and one Purify in your reserves for later. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Buy 2 Burning Pillar to replace 2 Quantum Pillar (don't sell the QP), then beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your Dragons early and often, use Immolation on your Ash Eaters to accelerate into more quanta for earlier dragons or bigger Fire Bolts. Use the Fire Bolts on your opponent after accumulating a lot of Fire quanta.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Gravity

:gravitybig

This is one of the most efficient, fun builds you can make in the Gravity element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

Special thanks to KingofArmagio (and Higurashi) for the inspiration for the deck! :)

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 1x Dagger
  • 2x Sapphire Charger
  • 2x Graviton Mercenary
  • 1x Colossal Dragon
  • 1x Gravity Shield
  • 1x Hematite Golem
  • 1x Graboid
  • 1x Enchant Artifact
Now buy 4 Armagio and 4 Acceleration. Put them in the deck in place of the Earth cards and two Quantum Pillars. Sell these cards and purchase one more Acceleration to replace the last Quantum Pillar, and the deck is complete. Now all you have to do is complete the quests! :)

Strategy is simple: play your Armagios early and often, boost them with Acceleration, and use Otyugh/Gravity Pull to deal with opposing creatures.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Life

:lifebig

I chose this build because every card in the deck has a low cost and doesn't cost many electrum. This is a very aggressive deck, and is quite effective at farming Level 3 AI.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 1x Emerald Dragon
  • 2x Rustler
  • 2x Heal
  • 1x Thorn Carapace
  • 1x Emerald Shield
  • 2x Empathic Bond
  • 1x Fire Bolt
Now start to buy cards for the new deck. Purchase 5 Adrenaline and two Horned Frogs and put them in the deck in place of two Forest Spirits, two Ash Eaters, two Burning Pillars, and one Deflagration. After selling the cards you replaced, buy two more Horned Frogs and two Cockatrices, replacing two Quantum Pillars and two Burning Pillars.

Now do the Level 0 quest and buy one Cockatrice and one Adrenaline, replacing the last Quantum Pillar and the Dagger. The deck is already finished, so continue with the rest of the quests.

Strategy is simple: play your creatures early and often, put Adrenaline on your Horned Frogs (they do more damage than Cockatrice with adrenaline) and outrace your opponent. If your opponent has a Virus or Parasite in play, try to wait to see which creature it chooses to infect before casting Adrenaline, as infection kills adrenalined creatures rapidly.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Light

:lightbig

This is one of the most inexpensive builds you can make in the Light element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 3x Pegasus
  • 2x Holy Light
  • 1x Solar Shield
  • 1x Reflective Shield
  • 1x Wind Pillar
  • 1x Dragonfly
  • 1x Wyrm
  • 1x Thunderstorm
  • 1x Firefly
Now buy 2 Golden Dragon and 5 Light Pillar. Put them in the deck in place of one Quantum Pillar and all the Air cards. Complete the first battle against Level 0 and get the reward for the first three quests. Now beat the Level 1 quest and get the reward. After the battle, purchase a Golden Dragon from the Bazaar to replace a Guardian Angel. Complete the Level 2 AI quest and finish building the deck by fighting against Level 3.

Strategy is simple: play your dragons and Photons early and often, and cast Blessing on whatever target you feel like (against Time decks, cast it on your Photons).

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Time

:timebig

This is one of the most inexpensive builds you can make in the Time element for farming Level 3. Here's the fastest way to build it.

Special thanks to nilsieboy and Higurashi for their inspiration for the deck! :)

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 3x Fate Egg
  • 1x Procrastination
  • 2x Anubis
  • 2x Devourer
  • 1x Parasite
  • 1x Steal
Now buy 6 Ghost of the Past and 3 Precognition. Put them in the deck in place of 3 Deja Vu, 1 Quantum Pillar, 1 Dagger, and all of the Obsidian Pillars. Sell these cards and purchase one more Precognition and a Time Factory for your deck, and your deck is complete.

Strategy is relatively simple: dig through your deck with Precognition while playing Ghosts of the Past whenever possible. Be careful about drawing too many cards, as you could potentially deck out (i.e. run out of cards) before you defeat your opponent. Wait to play your Golden Hourglass if you have a creature in your hand.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Water

:waterbig

This is one of the most efficient builds you can make in the Water element for farming Level 3. You can even build it before you play a single match! Here's the fastest way to build it.

First, take out and sell the following:
  • 2x Chrysaora
  • 1x Ice Shield
  • 1x Purify
  • 1x Ice Dragon
  • 2x Photon
  • 1x Pegasus
  • 1x Holy Light
  • 1x Blessing
Now buy 6 Toadfish and 3 Blue Crawler. Take out and sell 2 Quantum Pillars, 3 Freeze, and 4 Light Pillars, and then buy 2 Fog Shields (found under the Air Element in the bazaar). Put the Fog Shields in the deck and sell the last Quantum Pillar and the Dagger, and the deck is complete. Before you enter your first match, however, click on the 'Change Mark' icon at the right and change your mark to Air. This will enable you to play your Fog Shields and use your Toadfish's ability, Inflate.

Strategy: Play your creatures whenever you can, use Ice Bolt and Toadfish's ability Inflate to eliminate opposing creature threats, and attack for the win! Fog Shield is quite amazing at keeping the damage down to a minimum while not competing with your creatures for quantum, allowing you to continue to develop your stream of creatures.

That's it! You now have a deck that is fun to use and can grind Level 3 quite effectively. Your next step should be to gain electrum towards building a deck to beat the top 50 and eventually the False Gods. Have fun, and good luck!

Special thanks to Scaredgirl for help with the new format!

This has to be one of the best and most useful for newbies threads ever. Put this in the main page with a big "QUICK HELP FOR STARTERS" and maybe link "how to get rich in 1 day " too..

Nah, if this should be moved anywhere it should be to Introduction to Elements (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,54.0.html).

Not many people read it, as it contains only 2 threads... and this needs to be made much more visible...

Very nice. You can post a link to a good FG Rainbow below it or something to show them the next step of the process. Very nice; if I had seen this when I started out playing it would have saved me a lot of hassle ;)

Short Sword costs 55 electrum. Dagger comes with the starter deck. Shields shouldn't be necessary and another pillar is another card that doesn't kill the opponent.

:O Jmizzle7, you have 1137 posts! Almost up to 1337! :P

Yeah, that's right. You want to kill your opponent with what you have; that's the point of these decks. Defense is not neccesary. :)

Great decks! I used the water deck (with poison) until score 500- it works great, although it is important for a newbie to note that these will not last you through the entire game.

I noticed that sometimes you have a note to keep good cards in reserve, and sometimes you don't.  For example in your air deck you sell the FFQ, and I'd think that this would come back to bite you when you're building your first false god deck.  Not really a big deal cause it doesn't seem like much, but that first 1000 electrum is always the hardest... I know I'd be kicking myself if I followed a guide that told me to sell cards only to find out I need to buy them back later.

As a new player, in any kind of guide like this I would want to see which decks were the best (that's just the kind of player I am).  You have a note about the tremors deck, but it's kinda easy to miss.  As a suggestion maybe add a ranking for each.

Point about FFQ duly noted. I'll re-test and change that guide. Good eye :)

I'd rather not "rank" each, because then everybody would play only one or two of my decks. This guide is meant to show that it really doesn't matter which element you choose, you can succeed with any of them, which keeps the element of fun (lame pun) in the game, and keeps players of all levels playing the game.
