- Has Stephen Harper given any reason for buying more fighter jets? Does he want to start his own pet wars?
For some reason he thinks we need them to "protect the interests in the Canadian North".  Personally, I think it's a case that he's hit mid-life crisis at a time when he can spend other people's money.  Rumour going around a couple unnamed bases is that they are being bought without motors, so wouldn't even be operational at purchase.

I think the mega-prison and citizen law force sections of the platform bother me more than the fighter jets. :S  We don't have enough people in prison to warrant mega-prisons, and our crime rate (national) has fallen.  The only reason I can see to build mega-prisons in that scenario is to earn national income importing prisoners from other countries.  Not cool, if that ends up being the plan.

Science / Re: Fun with math: infinite elephants

Oh wow, I haven't really studied music before (despite appreciating and respecting it greatly) but after reading your post regarding octaves, johannhowitzer, I think I want to learn more than the little I do know.  Things that show strong patterns or consistencies have always drawn my interest.  Like the noble gases and outer valence electron stability.  Utterly fascinating stuff, and equally fascinating that it all eventually boils down to math. (Interestingly enough, for both music and atomic structure, 8 is highly significant.)

I also keep wondering if you could do something similar to the musical pi, but with fractal formulas.

I find that girl attractive because of her voice, her math skills, and her drawing. Awesome video btw
Does that mean I found proof that math is sexy?  8)

She's got a whole collection of various vids on math in doodles.  I really recommend her presentation of pi vs. tau if you like delving further into mathematical frontiers.

I had a hard time deciding between science, humour and visual arts for this one.  Sorry if I chose the wrong area, but I figured it was more about math than anything.

I got a kick out of this video, but then, I'm a nerd.  :P

(Warning, she talks fast.)

Anyone here find anything equally nerd-tastic while doodling like this in math or science?  I used to draw flipbook versions of the physics work we had to do in grade 12.  Momentum is cruel to poor stickman.  :))

Religion / Re: First Contact and Religion

I can't resist ponderings like this, they are too much fun.

At first reaction all I could think was "wow is that a loaded question or what?".  It actually led me to more questions than anything.

Are they able to break the language barrier for us, or would time have to be spent learning to understand each other first?  In both scenarios that would certainly have a major impact on how both sides (alien/us) would view and treat religion.

Which nation made first contact? What religions do the humans who made first contact follow? How orthodox are they?  There are so many religions, and so many different global attitudes towards religion.  I don't even know where to start when I think about this dynamic.

As far as our own religions go, I would think that most would take a standpoint along similar lines to "If they exist, then God meant for them to exist." (I am neither religious nor atheist myself, this is just an observation.)

I could go on, but assuming the aliens actually work together (unlike our planet lol)... TL;DR = I vote that we'd make great pets.  :))

I'm thinking of searching for the lost city of Atlantis and moving there for the next four years.  I don't care if it means holding my breathe underwater the entire time either lol.

On a side note - with all the fraudulent calls directing voters to other polling stations both the day before and the day of the vote, why did they still proceed rather than rescheduling or adding another voting date for those affected?

*shrug* I like the idea.  Nothing wrong with trying to keep things running both fairly and smoothly (not an easy task on the world that is "teh interwebs").
Personally I don't see why anyone would sign up for an event they are not sure they can finish, or will want to finish.  Considering the industry I work in you will probably never see me in any PvP events, as I know I have no way of knowing how much overtime I will have to put in from one week to the next.

I say kudos to the leaders for being strong enough to put your foot down on the issues that need it.

@malao: As a newbie to the game myself (less than a month playing) I must agree wholeheartedly with Gyrodiot.  A lot of the T50 can be beaten with the AI3 deck recommendations in the "From noob to FG slayer" thread in the newbie tutorials section - some require patience and a rush at the end, others you might need to deck out, some will just stomp on you until you can afford an upgraded deck no matter what.
Otherwise, I recommend playing them even if you are going to lose. You are going to lose the electrum whether you ditch or lose, but in playing it out you can learn why their deck beat yours and try to come up with ways to prevent it happening next time you encounter the same deck. (ie. I use a darkness deck with 5 dragons in it... but if I come up against a rainbow deck in T50 I generally won't play them until I know I can defeat the opponent AI - because I've noticed most rainbow decks include at least 2 antimatter cards.)

tip: save a word document with all the deck codes of your decks
copy and paste, it saves you time, and since the mark code is included, you won't have false marks anymore
*blink* *smacksforehead*

Thanks! rofl. I can't believe I never noticed I could do that.  I think I need more coffee...  :-[

On a related note, would it be possible to show our current mark on the main menu screen if it is revamped in the future?  I'm finding I'm starting to switch for FGs, but I often forget to switch my mark when I switch my deck back to my regular set *blushes*.  Needless to say it is an unpleasant surprise some games...  :))

Thanks for this guide.

I am loving playing AI3 with a variation of that darkness mono. Decided to check it out since I already had most of the cards from an aether/darkness setup - glad I did!  ;D
