With 30+ you can choose one of the default avatars.
With 200+ you can upload your own.

I had a longer rant, but I just erased it and I'll rephrase the question simply and without bias:

When you get rare spins for beating the arena, are the rares in the slots...
1) completely 100% randomly chosen from all available rares?
2) deterministic somehow, like based on the marks of the defeated decks or contents of those decks or some other factor?

I'm too lazy to actually remember what the last deck I faced before a special spin is but if you assume it's an immorush/firestall then the cards are definitely randomly selected.

I don't have any upped cards and don't intend to up any for a long time. What's the best place to grind rares? I have enough Titans and Pharaohs (shit I have like 9 of those) and I'm most interested in getting some Discords and Arctic Squids.

Special spins in Bronze Arena (win 6 consecutive games), or you might get lucky from the AI3 (note that it's impossible to get Trident and Eternity from AI3).

Bronze probably. Bronze is easier than silver and many of the decks there have a theme, so it's easier to get rares. Additionally, if you win 6 games in a row, you can get a special spin which almost guarantees you a rare.

I was grinding bronze for a while but I got pretty frustrated with not being able to make the 6 streaks very consistently and I found that I was winning one every now and then from AI3. Plus I could test new decks at the same time whereas in the Arena I needed to just whore out Grabbix or something.

But if it is actually a better way to get rares then that's what I'll do.

Even though you said you aren't planning on upping anything soon, I'd recommend it in order to gain the rares much faster. Bronze unupped is doable but getting the special spins is quite rare what I found out.
