Deck Help / Re: [group] The Elemental Engineers
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:14:34 pm »
Heh. Looks like someone took things too seriously. But I must say that I can see some points in what DM said.

I'm happy with the objective/purpose of this whole thing in general, but I strongly feel that this particular "challenge" have absolutely no benefit in achieving your goals. Seriously, why did you choose these random cards? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any synergy between these cards. If it's true, then why the effort? In my eyes, this is like trying to create a deck using Dissipation shield, Sanctuary and SoSac as the main cards.  :P

Issue Archive / Re: Lobotomizing delaying skills for a turn[unconfirmed]
« on: February 13, 2012, 09:58:08 am »
Yep, if I'm not mistaken it's been like that ever since the skill existed. As to confirm it's happening, yes I can confirm it. Whether it's a bug or intended, I guess only zanz can confirm this. It's a pretty nifty trick actually; especially if you are using mono-aether vs Dream Catcher. :D
To reiterate, once a creature is lobotomized (regardless if it has an active skill or not), it takes one FULL turn to get out of the "summoning-sickness" state.

off-topic: since when Mind flayer's skill changed to "Lobotomize"? I'm all for the consistency, but I think zanz forgot to change the card's description as well. >_<

General Discussion / Re: An Interview With A Former Elements Player
« on: February 07, 2012, 01:35:44 pm »
Hmm.. Firstly, I feel that the interview was somewhat geared towards "exaggerating" the flaw of Elements. Then, by sharing it here on the Elements official forum, it's pretty reasonable and definitely obvious you will get negative responses about this. Therefore, I'm questioning the real purpose of this thread. What sort of discussion are you hoping to come out from this?

But what bothered me the most is that this is done by someone who advertised his own game in his signature; and what you do know, it's an online card game too! ::)

p/s: I might be wrong about this, but I think the "advertisement" in your sig is not allowed here in the forum. You might want to check with Higurashi.

Mind creating the thread then? Also, is this AI related or not? I wonder what happens in PvP.

Trial Archive / Re: 5th Trials - Suggestions and Feedback
« on: February 01, 2012, 12:48:56 pm »
I personally agree with OldTrees, but only in principle - you shouldn't get points for doing a bad job. However, if this becomes reality, I consider it would be at the very least fair to add more possible tasks to choose from, as I would find it truely incorrect for a person to have a lower chance at becoming a Master because he isn't good at card design, which is totally unrelated to being a Master.
I totally disagree. In fact, no one should be better suited at making cards of an element than a master of that element. Why? Because being Master means that (in theory) you know what the problems/themes are with your element. Being able to put down ideas will show your level of understanding of what your element is & needs.
That doesn't mean you can't lay out your ideas in a different manner.  ::)
I guess different people have different expectation of this whole master title. To me, someone with a master title is not supposed to be the all-knowing type of guy and go all fanatic about the game balancing, etc. Besides, how does that help in war, the most obvious role for a master? Although I know it is not compulsory, I personally wouldn't vote for anyone who is competing the trials without any intention of leading the war because it seems like you're taking the glory without wanting to do the actual work. I'm not saying that designing cards and providing suggestions to improve the game are useless, I just don't expect a good master to do all that.

edit: double ninja'd >_>

Duo-Decks / Re: Diethyl Ether (36) [air] [aether]
« on: January 30, 2012, 03:38:21 pm »
***TRIALS RESPONSE***

It seems that with your last deck you want to combine two different deck types. Normally there's nothing wrong with this but you have to ask yourself whether it's worth splashing just for a few cards when you consider the other options. For example, a very solid UG deck can be made from that shell:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5f9 5f9 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5od 5od 5od 5od 5of 5of 5of 5of 5om 5om 5om 5om 5om 5oo 5oo 5oo 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 8pr

The deck hits hard and fast with Dragonflies to ping down your opponent early and help accelerate you into big Dragons and a load of Unstable Gasses. I cut it down to 30 cards and only used 5 Gasses because they can end up being dead cards without drawing an Immo, but taking an Air mark allows for much speedier starts while relying a tad on luck to end the game. A Fire mark version below is more streamlined but not as capable of blistering starts:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5oc 5of 5of 5of 5ol 5ol 5om 5om 5om 5om 5om 5om 5oo 5oo 5oo 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 5pu 8po

The above version also has room for Eagle's Eyes, which are a huge asset to have, being capable of shutting down your opponent's offense single-cardedly. Note that in both versions the number of Wings was reduced. This is for two reasons: One, without any playable spiders they can be dead cards in some matchups, such as vs. other Air deck. Two, thirty turns of stalling is simply not necessary, especially when you start the game at 23 (Or 22 if you lose the flip) and if your opponent has PC they typically want to use it to not lose to the stream of Unstable Gasses or Eagle's Eyes, which will normally overwhelm the 2-3 Permanent control cards run by decks with access to them.
With all respect to Terroking...

"***TRIALS RESPONSE***
Let's start deleting the deck...                    "
With all due respect, Chapuz; did you read the latest reply from the thread starter himself?  ::)

General Discussion / Re: Ask a simple question, get a simple answer
« on: January 30, 2012, 03:38:30 am »
Quick question. (which is also silly, but i want to clarify anyway)
Does Fractal ever work on permanents?
Because a person said he was playing Elements a long time ago, and he said he used a Fractal UG deck, but i think he's just bluffing.
Well, it could work with the Air Nymph, and that would explain the Fractal, but it doesn't seem a very powerful combo.
No.
1. He specifically says he "fractal the UGs and put them all".
2. He quitted before nymps were introduced.
Besides, fractal nymph is a very sloppy combo.
So i think he's lying. Thanks anyway.
Yep, I'm pretty sure he was lying. Can't remember whether there was a bug that could "enable" those feat either.
Also, nymphs existed (ver 1.18 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,2383.0.html)) before Fractal does (ver 1.21 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,4066.0.html)).  ;D

Issue Archive / Re: Arena disallows new deck [not a bug]
« on: January 29, 2012, 08:43:48 pm »
Agreed, I was also about to make a thread asking about this not-bug, since it just happened to me. :P
I believe Evaria is working on this, so I guess we'll have to wait for the moment. To be honest, IMO duplicate threads is just a minor annoyance; nothing too serious. Nevertheless, it's good to avoid that and even better seeing that some people use the search function.  :D

Definatley a bug/poor decision.

You do not control the oracle, if you happen to get the same card in a row, that's a strange coincidence and you shouldn't have to suffer for it.

All this "feature" does is prevent people from relying on a 1/~300 chance every day to use the same deck, while losing lots of HP a day waiting for it. No one in their right mind does that.
It doesn't matter what you think, it's clearly not a bug as zanz already confirmed this. If you really want to discuss this further, I suggest you do it in the Game S&F section.  ;)

I'm 31 this year. If I'm not mistaken Rasta is in his early (or mid?) 30s too.

I don't think any of us can compete with him (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,32281.msg436835#msg436835)
Probably this. I don't know anyone in their 40's.
Suddenly...

Hmmm... I'll be 43 next Friday...

Haha! I hope I'm not offending anyone, but I found this to be very amusing. In my twisted mind, I imagine that bripod's "Hmm.." was him expressing whether to accept those comments as a complement or other wise.  :))

Music / Re: Rate the song above you
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:40:12 pm »
I don't know why, but the first thing came into my mind hearing that song is The Corrs. :P
So, here is an instrumental-only song that I used to like.

The Corrs - Rebel Heart (
) (yeah, the video sux..)

Oh, almost forgot. I'll give that song a 6/10. Pretty plain, not interesting enough for me.

Just to add, you can find the same info when you hover your mouse over the "?" in Arena.

First of all, I must say that I like the way you posted the bugs (context, problem, etc). Nice and neat. :)

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that's this is not a bug. Any poison damage (either normal poison or in this case neurotoxin from dune scorpion) will still present until you use Purify; regardless whether the source of poison still present or not. To add, the neurotoxin counter (the numbers in the yellow thingy besides your HP) will increase by one for every card you play.
