Honestly, before I read all of these replies, I never even knew you could get dragons as pets. I've only gotten about 3 pets ever since I started, and only one of them was somewhat useful (a nymph). The Oracle hates me I see.....

The pet has helped me more on one occasion. I've had a ruby dragon which won me a game and i also had a parasite once vs. graviton which was nice since i had an early oty quinted (3rd round) and i was able to infect three creatures in the first 3 turns before it died which allowed my oty to grow where it otherwise would not have.

Most of the time though the pet ends up being useless and actually made me lose once vs gemini because of user error. Had a forest spectre that i mistakenly kept growing. Soooo on turn 7 or 8 i ended up having the spectre TU'd 4-5 times when i already had the board controlled.

Depends on the situation. I use is for FG. Almost all of the times he is not really helpful. But I remember getting a fire nymph as a pet once. I liked it very much (why oh why didn't he just gave me the card). Summing up, no.

I get really frustrated when I get something as trivial as say, an unupgraded dragonfly or photon.

...but I still voted 'Yes' because of all the wonderful times I got Anubis, ELITE Shriekers, and even a Phase Dragon! ^_^

I fut a rustler and had an rainbow-win because of amet. dragon, so pets worked out pretty well for me two times now... yeah

I've never got any pet that does enough damage to matter...but they cause a problem if the god I'm playing against plays reverse time,or eternity, by giving me a dead draw. They might be more useful for my cremation deck, but that's about the only one....unless you manage to get a dragon or something big, or play cremation, they are useless.

I've gotten a Phase Dragon, Bloodsucker, and Chrysora.  The last two were instrumental to me beating the FGs, so I'll never complain about the pets again.

Never really found them especially helpful, but they tend to soak up those early control cards, which is nice when you have a 7/1 lava destroyer in your hand. Also, the AI likes to spend quanta killing early creatures rather than summoning their own, so they are little decoys soaking up quanta and damage while dealing their own (maybe pitiful amounts of) damage.

I got a purple nymph like three times, wow they die fast, would be more useful if every AI didn't have a way to kill creatures.

Ray of Light would've helped me out.  I think I got Photon twice so far.

Having an Elite Otyugh or Fallen Druid would help immensely moreover than the current pets we receive from the oracle.
...but that's a suggestion. ^^;



Ninja edit: As of today, May 8, at 12:25 A.M. in my timezone, after spinning the oracle, I received both an elite shrieker for my pet ( ) AND 640 electrum., even though I lost my battle against the false god.

Chrysora is the best pet with effect I've had as the FG I faced were Gemini too. That Chrysora DID ALL THE 200 DMG IN POISON to Gemini and killed him. I myself never went below 60ish hp either.

So yes the pets are useful. I mostly get photons and sparks and gemfinders or what their names are.

Strongest one is immortal, not sure if i had one phase dragon or not.
