Very basic shield, but when you've got the healing cards Life has, there isn't a huge call for massive defense.

This shield is really rare in decks as there is no use for a 1 damage reduction when you can get the wonderful Emerald Shield (Jade Shield). This could have some synergy with aflatoxin in a hypotetical life/death deck, if one doesn't want to use skull buckler.

At the minimum, this will take down Divine Glory's weapons a turn faster than Fire Shield -- and it's Life, which is awesome.  I'm kind of disappointed that the upgrade costs a point more, but it might be worth it.

Reduce damage by 1.

Ooooo, I'm not so sure that's better.  That means 1 attack creatures don't attack and don't die...... although I suppose they do take up space.  This really helps the death+life synergy.

I'm actually pretty cool with the upgrade; after all, how many 1-power creatures are there whose skills you're really concerned about?  Ray of Light?

Well, I like it when parasites, forest spirits, arctic squids, and lycanthropes die.  Devourers, Otyugh, Forest spirits, and vultures would die situationally.  Hitting Guardian Angel, Rustler, and Deja Vu wouldn't be a bad thing either.

One thing worth noticing about this shield is that it does not work well with standard rainbows. is already used by FFQ, Fallen Druids and Feral Bonds, so a fire shield would still be better unless you replace some of the aforementioned cards... or maybe add a rustler? just throwing ideas though

Also another way to counter immortals... and would work against growth/devouring quinted ones

Also, the upgraded version is bad to get rid of creatures with an attack of one as they won't be poisoned, so quinted ray of lights won't be able to be destoryed by this shield to bring down someone's hope shield.

I'm fine with this, actually. Quite a neat idea. The upgrade is more situational.

What I dislike the most about these kinds of shields that can do damage to creatures is that they can kill Immaterial creatures. >.< I suppose that's the price to pay for awesome shields, though. Great stuff.

Fire shield is superior to this in almost every way except for killing bigger creatures
