Hello card designer. You're probably famillar with the
Hybrid Marks, which are part of a popular card idea group of 'hybrids' on the Card Idea and Art forums.
What many users probably aren't familiar with these days is hybrid's origin. Hybrids started being discussed as an idea when I first posted
Chaos Lightning on the forums - duo-cost cards (e.g. Cost X and Y) had been posted before and was considered uncodable, but hybrids (e.g. Cost X or Y) had never been done before and I had devised a coding workaround that seemed very easy to put in at face value.
Unfortunately, I learned that this workaround wasn't possible - on the bright side, hybrid cards are still indeed codable but would take up a lot of Zanz's time to do so. Nowadays, people don't usually think of this thread when they discuss hybrid cards, but if you're reading this thread, this is where it all began.
Feel free to take a look at the ideas below; maybe they'll inspire you to make hybrid element ideas of your own.

Hey guys! Welcome to the Duality Series's thread!
I sat. And I thought. How was I supposed to accomplish something that other elementals had been rejected from? The imagination is a powerful source of creativity, but that wouldn't be enough: clear reasoning and persuasiveness would also be needed. I wandered, and traveled many other continents, viewing how other denizens of this world had battled and how they came to react to such ideas. Some were disdainful, others supportive. When I came back, I was ready- to suceed where others had failed.Explanation of Quanta Cost (special thanks to Oldtrees)
Duality Cards use hybrid quanta in order to pay their costs. This means that the card could cost 2A/B=2A or AB or 2B quanta, A and B being separate quantas. Quanta is taken randomly (similar to other), so a card that costs 8
or
could take 8
, 8
, or anything in between like 3
and 5
.
As summed up by Oldtrees:
Dual quanta aka 2A&B =AB are taboo by word of Zanz.
Hybrid quanta aka 2A/B =2A or AB or 2B still require code but are just a modification of the other code.

http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,21591.0.htmlNOTE: I usually take longer to make and edit these cards than normal cards due to the fact I tinker with the card border, and thus I usually need to remake the entire image rather than a quick copy/paste job in order to correct problems and implement suggestions. However, this also leads to more individual and well-thought cards for this series, so the extended time is rather helpful as well.
