In the cold, dank False God bar, a dark figure was sleeping after a long night of drowning his sorrows. Two others watch over him, one fat, one thin.
"Chaos Lord really took a beaten today, eh Akebono?" the thin one chuckled, wiping sweat off his face.
"He sure did", the fat one agreed. "And Ferox..."
"Yeah?"
"Lay off the drugs. You're looking pale".
"I'm fi-" Ferox started, but was distracted by the creaking of the door. Standing at the door was a cloaked female, solid amour covering the parts of her body that were visable. Ferox closed his jaw, "she's new".
"Very. Imma have a go" Akebono said, craking his knuckles.
Ferox burst out laughing. "You?! I doubt she'd want anything to do with a tempermental fat guy".
"Well, at least I'm not a pale, twittering, drug addict" snapped Akebono.
"Betcha she'd prefer a drug addict to a food addict", retorted Ferox.
"You wanna bet?"
"It's on!"
They both got up from their seats. In their haste, they both tripped.
"Smooth", Ferox muttered as Akebono struggled to pick himself up.
"Give me a Nymph's tear on the rocks" Murmered the cloaked goddess. "Quickly please." Her rich, sultry voice drifted through the air like a sirens song. Faint redness highlighted her lower eyelids, evidence of bouts of tears. She was beautiful. Her skin shone like gold. Her eyes, like diamonds. Her form so elegant it would fill Venus with envy,
Akebono stood and, nudged Ferox , motioning him to be quiet. They listened discretely.
The bar tender deftly took down a mug from a nearby rack and, polished it with a dishtowel, then began mixing the drink. She slid two dull electrum over the table, then quickly gulped down the drink, and thumped it down on the table. She motioned for a second round.
"I wonder what's got ... ", Ferox was cut off by a sharp elbow to the ribs from Akebono.
"Quiet!" Akebono whispered angerly out of the corner of his mouth. "I'm trying to listen."
"Want to talk about it?" The bartender prompted, genuine concern audible on his voice.
As the cloaked figure began to speak, silence fell over the rest of the bar. It was as though the world stopped; and listened.
"He broke my heart."
The bartender shook his head slowly.Always the problem with maidens, deity or not."Hey, don't worry, it'll be alright," cooed the bartender.
"You don't understand. He was the world to me. No one could ever be what he was, no one could ever replace him. He was the love of my life, my reason to exist,"Jezebel lamented, "He was mine. My love."
"There will be others for you, these powerful beings line up to try for your love. You have the whole world to explore."
"He was the world. He was Zanzarino."
Akebono and Ferox shot a look at eachother then shook there heads, tacitly agreeing that the bet was off. They were clearly out of luck... and definitely outclassed.
