WAR HAS BEGUN.12 Elements. 1 Giant Battle. Will a new element rise to power? Or will Aether retain its position top of the Elements world? |
|
| |
- The most expensive team at the auction? Entropy, with 46 cards.
- The least expensive team at the auction? Death, with 17 cards.
- Some people cost their team as many cards as Death used to bid. These mighty battlers go by the names of: vagman13 with Aether, Jen-i with Air, RavingRabbid with Entropy, and Acsabi44 with Fire.
| - Round 1 had 36 duels between the 12 teams.
- The Grandmaster, deuce22 won his duel against the noobish newsletter writer who published this, 3-0.
- Aether and Water are tied for the best record out of Round 1, winning 5 duels and losing only 1.
- In the overall War standings, Water is in first place with a Vault of 328 cards, while Fire sits in last with only 263 cards left.
|
| |
- Battle League has begun and is well underway. Last league, Vangelios was crowned the champion. If you intend to defeat the champion, and you think you have the skills to make people suffer in the unupped environment, this is the place for you.
- Championship League has also begun and is raging forward. Last league, Calindu was crowned the champion. If you have oodles of upped cards and are not afraid to use them, then be sure to join this league, and attempt to show the Elements world your supremacy.
- You can't just run around punching people. Last time I did that, they told me to read the rules.
- Do you have a suggestion for these Leagues? Do you have a complaint that the League Organizer should abide to? Do you want to remind everyone how awesome the Leagues are? Then give your suggestion and feedback.
| - Three-man Team PvP has been completed after 7 rounds of intense action! Congratulations to the Broken Drums, who defeated the Blue Ballers in the final round. Give Dragoon, kev, and Jen-i who fought until the bitter end as the Broken Drums.
- Warrior's Preparation has begun, with 12 teams jockeying for supremacy. Because the standings are ever-changing, you can see the scoreboard here.
- PvP World Championship Qualifier #3 is down to the final four! Go and wish Kuroaitou, Dragoon, Zso_Zso, and Laxadarap good luck, and bask in their awesomeness for making it so far.
- A fan of Temple Run? A fan of Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol? A fan of boulders? Have we an event for you! Battle against opponents in a temple where only one can escape, while being chased by a huge people-smashing boulder in The Lost Temple. Sign-up today!
- Maybe you find all these PvP events lame. Maybe you have a better one. If so, suggest one here.
|
| |
| |
- Design a Shard PvP Event has completed their submission phase. Don't be confused, they are not making a shard, they are making a PvP Event that includes shards! Be sure to vote when polls open up, you know you want too.
- The New Shards - Deckbuilding Competition has also completed their submissions. This competition didn't necessarily require them to make a shard based deck, they just needed to include the new cards and the updated cards. Show your support of these talented deckbuilders by voting when the polls are up!

This idea, originally shown to TheManuz by EmeraldTiger was a slow-starting project. TheManuz started on some hybrid ideas, and jacker would contribute as well. A year or so would pass before EmeraldTiger decided to bring them up again. TheManuz was unable to at the time, and shadow303 wasn't truly interested in the idea yet. jacker's and the TheManuz's marks would be added to a table for EmeraldTiger to post in a new thread. shadow303 and Kamietsu would decide that the idea was worthy enough for their artistic abilities. Soon after, russianspy1234 would also join in, until all the marks were completed. All that is left now, is just background art.
Tea Time with Giants: Councilman, TO, Antarctican, n00bBelow is a portion of the interview. Q: How did you come up with such a nickname?
Long story, though it basically had me going and making an account on a game where I didn't want to be recognized by the people I knew (before that, my only "account" thing that I made was for Runescape, like five years ago), and I wanted to draw some pity/I'm very unimaginative, so what better way to say that you're a noob than to have your username reflect so (my original username was Iman00b8)?
Q: So, are you a Gen 1 man? Or do you love all Pokemon?
I have a confession. I haven't actually played Gen I pokemon save LeafGreen/FireRed. The earliest and first Pokemon I played was Crystal (Gen II), though the internal battery died very soonly, and I was never able to beat it. However, I do own Pokemon Emerald, which I have put quite a bit of time into, even doing some interesting takes on Nuzlocke (though I always end up starting over once its beaten, as that game get any harder after being beaten, or at least in matches that give creatures exp). So, to answer your question, I love all pokemon, though the Gen I ones do hold a special place in my heart, especially Bulbasaurs with optical issues.
Q: What was your motivation in becoming a Tourney orgainzer?
In all honesty, I had never thought I'd become or even want to be a TO. What I had wanted to be was a Warmaster, and that was the first position I had ever applied for. Though, as you know, I didn't get it. A while later, I heard that TOs were being hired, and after a little urging from a certain someone who shouldn't be named, I applied. However, even though I had never thought I'd want to be a TO, I absolutely love the position and hope all tourneygoers love the work that I, along with ddevs and Viney, put into it.Intrigued? Click on the white words to see the rest of the interview. - Congratulations to ddevans96 who now holds the role of a Tournament Organizer!
- After demonstrating great skills in the last Battle League, Cheesy111 has become the League Organizer!
- Being the first of their kind and with lots of work ahead of them, n00b and Hyroen are our new Guildmasters!
- In last month's newsletter the Elements Council put forth a PSA about what they were developing. Guilds are now in the development stage.
- The hiring of Guildmasters is finished.
- This community project is asking for inspired minds, who want to look into the world of Nature vs. Technology, in card form.

- 1.321 became live a week after the 1.32 patch.
- The newest cards, Dry Spell, Phase Salvager, and Graviton Salvager, are now in the Bazaar via the 1.321 update. In 1.32, they could only be won via spins.
- moomoose inspired the Salvager idea, while Tiko inspired the Dry Spell idea.
- Be sure to watch for the buffs to the cards Thunderstorm, Graviton Mercenary, Shard of Wisdom, and Shard of Patience. Also watch for the nerf to Shard of Readiness.
- Used to Fractal taking 10 hours just to load? With this update, the game is a lot quicker and smoother.
- If you want to make some new decks with these changes but don't want to use your own hard earned electrum, then go test your ideas in the trainer!

Shard of Patience was used in RoL/Hope decks pretty early after it got released because of its low cost and making up for the need of additional attackers to actually kill. It was pretty much the perfect fit, and it had problems only against the False Gods that were deemed impossible for the original deck. Even without the power of patience it made some False Gods a joke (like Ferox for example).
But now, in 1.32, shards got moved to their elements. While SoP was hugely boosted, it now needs a trio to be used. This makes the low quanta availability for Aether even lower, so it clearly needed a better quanta build or another stalling ability. While the idea of Dimensional Shields may work, Sundial was a clever choice, providing a 1 turn stalling ability and providing the user to make the deck much smaller through hasten.
The main problem of this deck compared to other versions of RoL/Hope is that Lobotomizer is missing, making many gods a much bigger threat, but it compensates by winning against some gods it couldn't before(mainly Ferox and Eternal Phoenix) by its superior stalling abilities.
There's no doubt that this deck is a unique one and adds a fresh feeling for many users of a old RoL/Hope deck that know how many times they needed just 1 more turn to get their defense going.

Here we revisit the work of card designer
moomoose, who has had several ideas implemented in the game recently, such as
Psion and
Graviton Salvager.
Graviton Pump is another buff spell in
that increases the target creature's stats based on the amount of high health creatures on the field. This ties in perfectly with the idea of
being the host of most of the games high health creatures, such as
Armagio and
Massive Dragon, emphasizing the uses of high health for something other than protection from creature control.
In element, this card really helps the obviously weaker creatures that
has as well as boosting the effectiveness of
Otyugh and its Devour ability. It also helps itself as well as in most cases, buffing a creature with
Graviton Pump would also raise the target's health to the point where it would also count for the next time it is played, meaning that the next buff would be even stronger than the last.
Also, this card is not completely reliant on the player. As its range is expanded to both players' sides, your opponent's creatures are less of a hindrance to your end goal of winning as it helps your buff gain strength. This is particularly evident against most standard Rainbow decks, as they commonly stock Growth creatures like
Lava Golem and
Forest Spirit that normally exceed 6 health, as well as
Lycanthropes and
Archangels with their high healths. You can also toss in control like
Basilisk Blood to help hinder their advances while you gain yet another boost in your buff.
One issue that can be seen here with this card would be in respect to
Momentum, the other buff spell that resides in the same element. However, it does not pose any real issue as while the two have the same low cost of 2
,
Graviton Pump requires other cards to even amount to anything. Therefore, it makes up for its potential power with the compounded costs of other cards and the addition of card costs since it is not bound to only one card as
Momentum is.
My only qualm that I really have with this idea is that I did not think of it myself. And that Graviton is spelled incorrectly on the card.
Duo Possibilities
[
|
] This is a game of numbers with this spell.
Fractal really seems to be the first thing to come to mind, targeting the already massive
creatures to help pump up the power of this buff, although that will require a little bit more work unupped since the creatures are just at 5 health. Also, like with any other buff,
Parallel Universe is prime for copying the buffed creature and adding yet another +1 | +1 to another
Graviton Pump. It doesn't hurt that
also has creatures like
Phase Dragon to also add to the possible buff, but it would be too costly to add them to such a strategy.
[
|
] The power of
Scarab is not something to forget about here, especially when dealing with numbers. The use of Swarm allows to pump a group of cheap creatures to significant health to increase the power of
Graviton Pump while utilizing the pre-existing use of
to fuel Devour. Also,
Deja Vu and
Dune Scorpion retain their status of being prime candidates of being optimal buff targets, effectively increasing damage past what
Graviton Pump would give by itself.
[
|
] While boasting only two decent creatures that would help the power of this spell, there it is worth noting. With
Gargoyle and
Voodoo Doll assisting the power of
Graviton Pump and/or the joint combination of
Devourer and
Black Hole slowing down your enemies' quanta production, this can be used to significantly assist the healing power of
Minor Vampire or anything else targeted by
Liquid Shadow on your side. Aside from the forementioned combo, it also works off of the pre-existing synergy of
Gravity Pull in this element. This could potentially be more powerful if properly balanced as a trio with
.
[
|
] While I'll try to address a non-Shard meta, the change to
Shard of Patience cannot really be ignored here. With it, one can easily focus on spamming low cost low health creatures like
Chrysaora to add to the power of
Graviton Pump, although it may seem dreadfully redundant with
Shard of Patience already in play.
Thank you to fellow Newsletter Writer Opsinis, the card curator Drake_XIV, the warmasters Jenkar and bjessee, the creative mind, EmeraldTiger, councilmen Calindu, majofa, and n00b and the rest of the Elements council who helped gather all the data to make this happen.
