Tea Time with Giants: An Interview of the Grandmaster, deuce22Below is a portion of the interview. Q: Favourite Katy Perry song?I actually am not a Katy Perry fan at all. I just love the gif of her with the shakeweights. Although, if I had to pick a song for the sake of answering the question, I'd probably pick Firework because of the music video. I really don't like any of her songs, lol.Q: Ninjas vs pirates?Rhetorical questions are rhetorical Q: Favourite Aether Card and why? This is a tough one. If I had to pick one, it would probably have to be fractal. It is arguably the most powerful card in aether's arsenal. The ability to add up to 8 creatures in your hand instantly is very OP. It can be used in rushes, domins, quantacontrol, and stalls. It is almost never a dead card. For more tea time with the grandmaster, click the white word in this sentence.

Deck Idea of the Month
Tha Gold League Killer, V2.0 by raloufThis deck review was written by deck helper and Master of Life, willng3.
The deck idea was originally Brave Phalanx by Jawdirk (reviewed by Calindu), but the recent update of 1.32 makes the deck less than optimal.Hover over cards for details, click for permalink

This month features a deck which has inspired the creation of a seemingly infinite number of variants because of its sheer versatility and ability to be customized using nearly any card selection.
As the title implies, this deck is renowned for its ability to defeat Gold League opponents using its amazing speed and surprisingly defensive card choice. The power of Supernova and Quantum Towers allows the deck to speed through a number of defenses and also allows it to easily use the Shards of Serendipity (SoSe) for added utility. Shard of Serendipity alone is sometimes enough to win the game with what it grants the player.
However, SoSe can also be the player's greatest downfall if it doesn't provide what the player needs. It's because of this that lucky players can expect this deck to perform astronomically well for them while others can make claims that the deck is obsolete and no longer functions at all. The somewhat random nature of Gold League doesn't help much with this either.
All in all, Tha gold league killer V2.0 is a deck that may take some time for players to acquire because of the Shards and upgrade requirements, but it easily makes up for this by being both versatile and very fun to play.
The only question remaining before using it is: You feelin' lucky? "Well, do ya, punk?"

Ah, how you've risen through the ranks after sitting so long in the Crucible...
Storm Rod | Storm Attractor, made by our own
ddevans96, is a creature based on protection from spells, killing the infamous Firestalls and damage-heavy Unstable Gas decks, which have been lacking in recent times, and other target spell heavy decks.
But it is a tad double-edged form of protection. In exchange for protection against a myriad of spells, it also prevents you from healing yourself with any healing spells, affecting the active Storm Rod instead. However, it does not negate secondary effects on said spells, not killing your own use of Luciferin.
With the advent of spell damage and the reliance on reflective shields to counteract the destruction of Psions and Shard of Wisdom, Storm Rod adds another option to defend against the rising forms of spell damage and a nice addition in the form of defenses for many a deck.
Duo Possibilities
|
- Seeing as Attract is a passive ability and Fractal shares
, this is an alternative splash to Hope decks, relying on Storm Rod to defend against spell damage while use of Luciferin to add to Hope defenses, Blessing used to make it slightly offensively viable while adding to its health as you heal it with Holy Light, Miracle, and Guardian Angel.
|
- With Stone Skin and Basilisk Blood in its arsenal, you can raise Storm Rod's health to quite an extent. However, there are still issues with physical damage sources, which can be averted with Titanium Shields and any modified Earthstalls.
|
- With Gravity Pull or combined with Chimera after it is played, it can also be used to defend against literally any form of damage. This is best expressed in Trios, however, with the use of Voodoo dolls and Basilisk Blood.
Thank you to fellow Newsletter Writer Opsinis, the card curator Drake_XIV, willng3, plastiqe, n00b and the rest of the council who helped gather all the data to make this happen.
