Water, the Element of Control https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=10137.msg123016#msg123016

My favorite element is Water. I believe that Water is an element of control, with the ability to control the field with a variety of creatures, spells, and permanents. In the real world, water is a substance powerful enough to cut through rock, massive enough to cover the majority of the earth, yet intricate enough to support life as we know it. This series is dedicated to this amazing "element", Water. to help it survive as a Mono-deck and sometimes as a Duo-deck in Elements.

Click on the images below to discuss each individual card.

II. Spells
III. Permanents

I really like this series. All the cards define water, and have different ways of control. Water was the first elements I ever used, and I still like it a lot because of how versatile it can be.

This is Great!!

It would be great if you or others made additional series expanding on each elements specialty.

I was thinking that too. Like Fire, Element of Damage, or Life, Element of Healing. That'd be cool.

Thanks for the feedback!

I might do more series. Water is my favorite element, and I felt that it was too weak in a mono-setting. Fire is powerful enough as a mono (Immolation, Phoenixes, then fire bolt + Fahrenheit???!), as well as Life (adrenaline Frogs, enough said). If anything, I might do Time next (it's not particularly weak as a mono, but I'd like to expand more on time manipulation :D). I'm still trying to figure out what Air is based around. It seems to me that it's just a duo element (similar to water, sort of) - if I can figure out what theme to work towards, I could improve it a little more in Mono.

Well, for air, the flavor text says Freedom of Movement, but the only card that defines that is Wyrm, so you could work toward that.

Or, for Fire and Life, you could also try making a series that supports duo decks.

Freedom of Movement sounds nice. Wings gives yourself Freedom of Movement, but Web takes it away from the enemy. Maybe I can do using height as an advantage against other players.

Fire has got plenty of Duo synergy, and Life has synergies with Rainbow-used cards (Fallen Elf/Druid, FFQ/EQ) and cards that improve via Adrenaline. They're the last elements I want to buff thematically. :P

some of the art are great, such as the ice giant. where do you get it or is it created by yourself?

None of these were mine; I'm as artistic at drawing as McDonald's is healthy. The only contributions on my part for most of these is cropping/resizing - for Sleet | Hail I simply recolored Zanzarino's Rain of Fire.

Really nice series...! Is this for the Trials competition? If this is, then you can change the title to it to "(Trial of Water) Water the Element of Control".

Some questions:

What is the point of upgrading Maelstorm? The effect costs 1 less  :water quanta, but the card costs 1 more  :water quanta, so it basically even things out. Oh and its Maelstorm, not Maelstrom  8)

Nah, the cards really have no synergy between them. Theme, yes. Synergy, no. I'm going to make a whole new series, but I will reuse Sleet | Hail. (with one small adjustment  :)))

It costs 1 more to summon, yes, but you will use the ability loads of times, so it easily pays off. Unless, of course, it gets stolen/destroyed/exploded.

Maelstrom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maelstrom . The "Strom" part is actually based off "stream".
