Recent changes to Karma system

There has been some discussion about the Karma system we have. Here's the thread: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5339.0.html

As you can see, I have disabled "Smite" button. From now on you can only give positive Karma.

This system might not be final, but it does sound really good to me because we get the full benefit of the Karma system by rewarding productive member, without getting any of the negative side effects like "community thread police".

Also with only one button, the system is more simple which is always good.

I might even open up the Karma logs to everyone so you can see a full history of who gave you positive Karma and why. More about that later.

I'm also probably going to reset everyones Karma who has it in the negative.

I'm about to remove all the negative Karma ever given on these forums. If someone has a good reason not to do that, please let me know. I'm asking because deleting negative Karma log is irreversible.

I tried to give The Oracle karma as the embodiment of the new and improved karma system but I couldn't do it because The Oracle has no posts. But The Oracle has 1 karma so someone found a way to get around that. Whoever you are, how did you do it?

If the Oracle sends you a PM then you will have a post from him that can be given Karma.

Only foreseeable issue that I have:

Changing my personal text to reflect the new karma system.

I guess that this will make many people happier with the system, while not getting rid of the useful measuring rod itself. Good call.

Just a another point:

Karma has to have a negative effect, after all thats what karma is (do good things, good things happen. do bad things, bad things happen)

Since there is now only the "+" option, maybe consider changing the name of the karma to something else (like "Thanks" or something).

Instead of Karma, why not call it "Renown"? Or "Fame"?
