When did Rays and Sparks have lives? When did a CONCEPT like Deja Vu have a life? :P
Now looking more deeply, photons and sparks are basic chemical reactions, which is lively
deja vu is a concept, and related to your mind, so there is some connection to life form.
Giant rocks with faces (Golems) have lives too!
As for a golem, the ancient myths gave them life.  :D

But a pot/cauldron? Just a piece of solid steel/iron. :o
TIME is around us. It flows silently, trying to take everything away from us.

The reason I made it a creature is so that the opponent has more options in getting rid of it. If it were a permanent, it would be OP I think because you could just keep chaining them and kill everything.

Also keep in mind that the Pot/Cauldron has an attack of 0 which means it doesn't attack. Problem is of course when it gets buffed to attack but that can be thought as giving is magical powers like flying. If a flying Pot hits your head, it hurts.

It's similar to rage potioned phoenix ash... 7/1 magical ash flying in your face and burning you alive?

Anyway, I support the idea to make it collect counters and deal damage equal to the number of counters to both opponent and his creatures. The fact of collecting counters seems to fit :time's theme and makes it different from unstable gas, while it still would not be overpowered (easier to counter than unstable gas because it is a creature, and it needs a lot more time to be as dangerous to the player, while being more dangerous to creatures instead). A rush deck can defeat you before cauldrons collect enough counters, a slower deck usually has enough creature control to deal with it, and it still needs other creatures to finish the player (you would need ~20 turns to kill him with cauldrons only), so you could easily counter it by killing those other creatures too. Unless you use firebolts for a finisher (you need :fire anyway), but then it's hard to make a :time :fire deck able to last 20 turns.

As for lobo, two of the most common ways to perform it (ulitharid and lobotomizer) both cannot be used the turn they are played, so you simply have to explode your cauldrons the turn you see the danger. Only liquid shadow can lobotomize without notice.
May the force of the D4HK side be with U ^_^

Naturally this creature dies after exploding.

I need to nerf HP to 5 or something.

If it dies, then no problem. Having 5 hp won't help in self destruct anyway (it harms only enemy creatures).

Though: what about planting the pot to the enemy side, and burning the allies :D
In that case, 5 hp is fine.

I like 6 hp.  It makes it less vulnerable, but you can still kill it relatively easily (fire bolt, +10 quanta) 7 might work, too, but I think it wouldn't be vulnerable enough.  Especially when you can have 6 in a deck.

Any other thoughts on this?  Maybe a poll to decide the issue of counters or hp?

This card is PURE evil. >.< I can already imagine a new ":time" FG based on these little guys, and seeing one (or more!) of them pop on the field... oh man. That's going to be interesting. :o

I would say that the HP needs to be high (otherwise, you could just immortalize it and then have it tick-off without the opponent having no means to counter it). It's already vulnerable to being defused from Liquid Shadow, Mutations, Lobotomizer, Rewinds, and even an Elite Otyugh if the opponent had some sort of damage control paired up. If you're going to lower the HP, make sure it's not completely vulnerable to any spells (at least 6 HP, as someone else said).

...besides, pots and cauldrons can be VERY durable. There's a reason why they're used in cooking - they can withstand extreme heat and pressure. ;)

This is the beginning of a test to see how much time it takes to evaluate why a card ended up in the archive.

Quote
Strengths that might have caused its entry to the Forge:
Consistent strong well explained thematical resonance.
Beautiful free use art.
Well known and respected Author.
Good listening and communication and improvement of the idea within the thread.
Good and well communicated reasons for balancing opinions.

Problems that might have cause its failure to get to Armory:
First problem was redundancy with RoF. Redundancy would/will be a common problem for many expansions on old mechanics. The problem with redundancy originates from the necessity to either cause indecision in the players between the options available or to cause each card to occupy a different niche. Thunderstorm still has problems like this but made its niche as a cheap splashable mass CC. However the redundancy was later reduced, to the point of being fixed in my opinion but maybe not everyone felt this way, so this is not the primary cause.

Second problem could have been that it was perhaps the worst of a great set. I have not seen a single complaint about Exploding Pot in the entire thread/crucible/forge. I am surprised it was archived however it was in the Forge a long time competing with all of these:
Crusader|Crusader (In game)

Oldtrees, I think we should go with Kuraitou's idea of discussing the idea on the actual card thread, because apparently 3 PMs to all of CCC makes me exceed the PM limit. :P

I will list the reviews already given.  When a new review/ overall comment for pros and cons is listed, it will be added to this list.  If somebody would PM the comment I made on this card to me, it'd be greatly appreciated.  Only reviews that are suffienctly important/long enough will be added.

Zbladers Addition: Weaknesses
All the strengths have already been listed.

All the weaknesses seem to have been listed, but I find that another problem is the whole Debate with HP. *Pulls up an infinite immaterial Phase Shield for safety*  I think that even though that the card was approved, there was still an ongoing debate on HP was and thus some people (I don't mean to offend anyone, but remeber, I have a Phase Shield) decided that it might have been troublesome to find a perfect medium for HP and thus it got dumped.  Otherwise, this card should be in the Armory.
Zbladers Comment : Recommednation on Remake.
For a similar card, I'd advise the creator to try to balance the threat level of the ability with the cost.   :time  :fire  seems to have not been a popular duo at the time this card was made, as well as thematically fit, so this card was acceptable.   :earth is also another good choice for such a card, since a pot is made out of metal, and other creatures of elements could possibly interpret this as a "mini-volcano."
Comment from Original Author (Scaredgirl)
I chose :time because of the "ticking time bomb" effect and the fact that it goes to a time bubble. I chose :fire because it ignites the "fuse". I really don't know any other elements would fit without making some drastic changes to both the theme and mechanics.

My main beef with this idea is that having a pot with 10 HP makes very little sense. Less HP would have made the theme better, but it would also have been quite a big nerf, so I don't know.

It's a shame that I didn't push this idea more and kind of let it die alone. I do think that Elements needs a "time bomb". Cards that have that kind of delayed effect are really cool because they are great at building suspense. !Omg, it's going to explode soon!".
