More Vanilla Cards? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=18811.msg239846#msg239846

This is just a quick thought... but will we ever make more Vanilla cards?

For newbies, Vanilla means the creature has no ability.

I'm not sure how Vanilla creatures would exactly play a role in the game, but we could have more support for them so one could make a competitive deck around them.

I apologize for the lack of formatting.

I think that with the current amount of Vanilla^ and nigh Vanilla (Spiders, Mummy, Gargoyle) we do not need more vanilla creatures except maybe a mid attacker in Time.

It would be interesting to have a deck based around vanilla cards, but i think it would just end up being similar to a rainbow deck as any pillar can be used in it so good cards from all quanta would end up being used.

There is a vanilla card deck
Mono Life Rush
6x Emerald Tower
6x Giant Frog (vanilla card)
6x Elite Cockatrice (vanilla card)
6x Adrenaline (buff that works well on the vanilla cards)
6x Life Pendulum [upgraded]

Many rush decks revolve around vanilla creatures, as do some luciferin-dependent decks such as Essence's pillarless dragon rush.

There may be new vanilla creatures introduced some day, but it's actually fairly difficult to make one that isn't extremely close to a pre-existing creature. (see OldTrees post)

You won't see many vanilla creatures in the card ideas section, simply because Zanz already knows how to make vanilla creatures. Mostly he's looking for neat/original ideas from the card ideas section, so a lot of vanilla creatures there wouldn't be helpful.

I don't know if we need more vanilla cards, but some cards like frogs although are vanilla creatures are very appealing to the community.
My real-life sucks. So i come online to compensate that.

Vanilla cards are cards which have the ability of being cheap at the cost of not to have any other ability.

Horned frogs are appealing because they would be a 3|3 at a cost of 3 :life and they have the ability 'this creature cost 1 :life less to summon'.Indeed it's a good ability!

Blue crawler has not that ability so it's true vanilla(so many use only upped version, and even the upped version is less appealing than the 6|9 steel golem!).

True vanilla are cards with 1:1 ratio(effect=cost)
Vanilla are cards with 1:0.7 ratio(effect>cost)

Edit: even photon is a vanilla card!

Horned Frog does not have an ability. It gets a cost decrease due to its element.
True Vanilla cards are cards that do not have active or passive abilities
Nigh Vanilla cards are cards that have a minor ability that can be ignored (such as Airborn or Mummy)

Its an interesting theory, if only because it varies from the currently accepted one..  But until you are ready to back it up in a very detailed format covering all cards, I'll stick with the PhantomFox/OldTrees method ;)

This may seem off topic but I don't think so. Some more base Vanilla creatures would be good. To a point. Here is that point.
Ability Jammer / Ability Jammer (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19637.0.html) I came up with this idea to help promote the deck creation of a more base line "Vanilla" creature deck. Also The big "Vanilla" cards already in the game are the dragons. I think that every Element could do with 2 "Vanilla" creatures other than the dragons. That would give each Element the chance to build around any card that may come along in the future that would block or remove a skill. Heck even deal with cards "Butterfly Effect" and those like it which change or add an ability. Now with that said.
Ratcharmer is right as far as the fourm crew making "Vanilla" cards. We don't need to as Zanz is far better at it and can see the wholes that need to be filled.
