Vrt, I personally don't want to spend money for Photoshop, but Pixlr's tools are pretty similar to Photoshop anyways. Sort of.

And I'd be inclined to believe pepokish would have helped without the chocolate...;)

Lesson #1: Don't use lineart. Seriously, don't. It's one of the most limiting things you can do.
What else can I do then? I CANNOT draw with a mouse, and I don't have a tablet. The only thing I can do is draw something with pencil, scan it, and use that as a guideline.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

If it is clear, I don't see a problem with just drawing the whole picture, scanning it, and showing the results.  Not everything need be done with a computer.

why? i draw with the mouse and it's not that difficult. It took some time to get feeling. I am considering buying new mouse though... (and posting photo of my workspace to see what i am talking about)

Usually I do sketch and scan and paint over it.

And i do not take criticism too well but that depends how rest of my life is standing. Still i am ready to commit some time into this. Can't wait!

I need help drawing with mouse. I suck at it. :(
If you have a 'touch pad' (like those found on laptops), you can 'cheat' - I'm planning on using the pad as a way to draw curves more soothly than the mouse (while using the mouse for straight lines). This way, you can draw using computer tools (even though it'll be a lot easier to just use pencil and paper).

I could probably draw on paper using pencil, but I don't have a scanner, so I would have to upload the picture of it using a camera (taking pictures of my sketch work - that sounds kind of ridiculous XD); either way, learning either by hand or on the computer, I'm ready. :)

With this i have created all my pictures (you can check them in my sig). So just saying it is not that hard to draw with mouse or get used to it :)

Hey guys!

As Vrt has mentioned, I will be helping out a bit with the lessons.  Vrt and I sometimes clash when it comes to art, so I have no idea how this will work out, but we'll see.  (:

I'd like to ask a simple question for those interested: why are you interested in attending this little art class?  This will greatly help me determine which areas to focus on specifically, when giving advice.

With regards to tools used, don't fret if you don't have all the best things available.  I started out with an early version of paint shop pro, and a mouse.  Four years ago, I made this image with a mouse, so it is technically possible.  I also work a lot with traditional media, so if you have a scanner or digital camera, that's no problem for me.

As for digital art programs, you're free to use anything you'd like.  I understand that not everyone can afford a tablet and a copy of Photoshop, however, as Vrt mentioned, we have limited or no experience with programs other than Photoshop, so we cannot help you with the technical side of things (such as, which menu a tool might be found under).  However, we will be here to help you artistically, regardless of your chosen media.  You can also always ask your fellow "classmates" for help with the program, if need be.

Anyway, that's all for now.  (:  It's good to see so many people interested!

Well I'm interested, because I like drawing, but my skills are very, very bad so it becomes something like this. I want make better art (http://imageplay.net/) (http://imageplay.net/) (http://imageplay.net/)And I sometimes post card ideas and I can't find art that fit to elements, so this class would help me making art for the cards.

Great idea. Good luck with the project. Too bad I cannot help because I suck at drawing. :)

I could probably use your help in other ways, SG. Although I'd need a bit (read: a lot) of input from Kael and Kuro as well, so I'll see how I'll go about it. I'll send you a PM or so.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I'm interested!

As for free image-editing programs, I've found that Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net) and GIMP (www.gimp.org) are good enough
