I think we need to come up with a way to make this more useful. My suggestion first would be to make it a Permanent instead of a Spell.

Provide other possible changes, thank you.

For me it does not make sense as a spell. I would think a relic is something that could be touched, not a brief passing whim.

Sigh.

It's always been suggested to sell relics by Zanz and the community. Buffing relics makes all of that advice become harmful and buffing relics is unfair to players that sold them (a lot of people).

I changed my mind after looking through a few relic-based ideas - Relics could play a bigger role in the game, but if they do they'd need to be more easily obtainable.

The Holy Cow idea is nice, but I'd rather see some vanilla-esque cards that had some abilities related to Relics (in whatever form they become), IMHO. It could create some interesting strategies since you're relying on "junk" cards. (Zealots (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11901.0.html) is a very old idea based on this.)

Alternatively, a mechanic that modifies the relic's role would be interesting - see Relic Blade (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,18090.0.html) and Quantum Forge (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,26938.0.html) for two examples of ideas that use relics.

But people are encouraged to sell relics by zanz himself.
Zanz never wrote "It is now useless: sell it!" on the unupped shard.
We would end up with people complaining that the developer himself suggested to sell a card that he would make useful not long after that.

Sigh...this is what happens when card designers try to invade game balanced forums...

As I already suggested it in a previous thread (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,22607.0.html), relic could turn into a random mark card if played. Chances:
  • 40% to turn into a mark card matching your element
  • 30% to turn into another random mark card
  • 30% to turn into a quantum pillar/tower
This behavior would make the card highly unreliable to play so its main value would not change: one should sell them at the best. But at least the cost information and the spell nature would not be a fake info.

Unupgraded shards had a similar problem but fortunately it has been changed. Now its the Relic's turn  :)
