Now, before you read on...

Yes, this is a creature-stealing card. The central theme of Darkness is using your opponent's own strength against him/her. Darkness can steal permanents, HP, quanta, so why not creatures?

Yes, I know that creature stealing is generally considered to be OP; it is like instant-kill combined with Parallel Universe. I am perfectly aware of this fact. Therefore, I had given this spell a high cost. Also, like Miracle and Fractal, this card drains all your :darkness. This could be one of the drain-all-quanta series of spells.

Now, here is the card:

NAME:
Corruption
ELEMENT:
Darkness
COST:
12 :darkness
TYPE:
Spell
ATT/HP:
-
ABILITY:
All your :darkness are consumed.
Take control of the target creature. Its ability cost is changed to Darkness.
.
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
For example, an Otyugh corrupted would use :darkness to devour, a FFQ corrupted would use :darkness :darkness to generate Firefly. If your field is full, then the target enemy creature is simply killed. You can also use this card on your own creature to change its ability cost.

You're good on the whole rules thingy.

Changing the ability to darkness is pretty OP.  I might drop that bit.

Ooh, finally! A version of "creature-stealing" that ISN'T utterly overpowered!

I love the art and how you developed this idea. The upgraded version should be spelled "Conversion".
I really can't say anything bad about this card. It seems quite fair. What I CAN say about this card is that it will make Darkness really powerful, which it already is. It should be released in a set along with other powerful cards from other elements, like the Alchemy cards were. They can be called something like "Advanced Spells" or something to that nature.

Good card.

Gah... "Convertion" shows up in my dictionary as a correct word... *punches self in face repeatly*

I'll fix the spelling.

EDIT: Fix'd.

The reason why I gave Corruption the power to change ability cost is both sentimental and strategical. If you corrupt a creature to Darkness, then its ability should be changed to signify that the creature is a corrupted version of its former self. If this does not change the ability cost, then it would be almost useless to use this on a creature with weak stats but strong ability; but for creatures with strong stats, it does not matter even if it changes the ability cost.

Pretty awesome idea.

Sounds a bit overpowered to me though. When using the upped version you basically have a 5 quantum instant-kill card that not only "kills" the opponent creature, but makes him join your side! That's insanely powerful unless all your opponents use weak creatures. On top of that there's this whole changing of ability cost thing which only adds insult to injury.

Difficult to say without testing, but I would say the cost would probably have to be increased.

But the idea is great and I like it.

I'm perfectly fine with increasing the cost; right now it's a pretty much experimental value. The consume-all-quanta thing balances the card.

But is one of those really that overpowered? I guess the ownership exchange of an Elite Otyugh can be game-changing, but...

It's not just otyugh.  FFQ, Pharaoh, any nymph, suddenly this card is just about an "I win" card.

The cost could be changed. Does 8/7 sound good? Or 9/8?

I don't remember who said this originally, but... This card is only overpowered when your opponent allows it to be.

This card is REALLY powerful, especially the part about the conversion of ability cost, this can pull off some crazy synergies that would likely be very OP. Good idea nevertheless, but I think increasing the cost is not enough to balance it.

Don't forget about the part where it drains all your :darkness. Is that not enough?

I think that 12 (11) quantum and only the upped changing the ability cost could make this card good.

I really liked the idea.

I don't like cards that are significantly different when upped. That way, it closes off a section of strategies from newbies, who cannot use upgraded cards.

Remember, although powerful, this card is semi-situational. It's only powerful if your opponent plays powerful creatures. Based on this, I do not think the cost of this card should be raised to 12 or 11.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.
