Pillarless Nova/Devourer Rainbow (Semi-Permalink)

Are you tired of drawing those lame Pillars during mid- or endgame, when you would much rather draw something that helps you kill the opponent?

Your problems are now in the past. Let me present to you..

Pillarless Nova/Devourer Rainbow
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vh 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 52q 55q 5c5 5f6 5f6 5i7 5i7 5i7 5og 5og 5rk 5ul 5ul 5ul 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5up 61q 61q 8pt

I wanted to make a Pillarless deck that used only six novas and a mark to pay for cards. I quickly realized that I need more quanta in order to do enough damage. Going :darkness and taking Devourers was only choice here because I did need something else to give me quanta to play more expensive creatures, in this case dragons.

I took 2-4 quanta worth of cards from each element (except :light) with one card costing a maximum of 2 quanta. This ensure that I will be able to play them relatively early even if I get a bad opening hand.

With this deck you usually have 1-2 Novas and 1-2 Devourers in each opening hand. If you have less than that, you might be in trouble.

I really would have wanted to test this in PvP but unfortunately I don't have a single unupped Arsenic in any of my three accounts. Yea.. I like upped Arsenics. :)

Strengths:
- well-rounded
- lots of creatures, creature control, and permanent removal
- fast starter

Weaknesses:
- No major weaknesses that I know of
- quite slow in actually killing the opponent

Customization:
- Replace Druidic Staff with something else (I just took it because I didn't use :life for anything else)
-Maybe try Ulitharid instead of Freeze? (also drop Lightnings if you do this, maybe take an Reverse Time..)

I haven't done any scientific testing yet so there might be some things that need a bit of tweaking. But I did play a bunch of matches against AI3 and won all of them.

you probably know this...but just in case... if you were looking to test this in PVP1 you could still enter with an upped arsenic and the game engine will just "un-up" it for you

How about a mirror shield or a blessing for light?
Instead of, say, a fog shield.
And maybe a heal/horned frog instead of druidic staff?

Fog Shield is vital for a deck like this, for its cost it is the best cost-blocking ratio in the game.
Else known as "JonTheBon"

I also make videos and stuff.

Well, there's two fog shields, but I guess I know what you mean.
Still, blessing could be useful and mirror shield would counter specific decks, but if it's for AI grinding mirror shield is relatively useless.

tried it out a bit... i think the object is control not speed (I usually expect speed in pillarless rainbows)...

however, if you do want to make it a bit faster i think you could scrap a weapon and always steal one if you're really in need...also i'd like to see another creature or two like maybe a frog or a gargoyle or a 2nd lycanthrope or maybe even a deja vu or phase spider...idk its probably not supposed to be fast and i just want it to be faster :/

Fog Shield is one of the most important cards in this deck. And that frog does only 3 damage making a random crappy card.

Yep, it's definitely a control deck all the way. You simply play the Devourers and kill any creatures or nasty permanents your opponent plays. After a while you can afford to play those Dragons and then you win.

Wow, a Darkness-based rainbow. I think I tried to make one of these a while back, and failed...

Hm, I might actually try this out, since I have all the rares required in this deck.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

In my opinion it's the opposite. This deck has 6 creature control cards which is a lot in a 30 card deck. You will notice this when fighting opponent that has no creatures you can target, and you have 6 useless cards in your deck.

Sure you can take BB instead of Freeze, but then your Devourers cannot burrow as much.
