Top 500? (Semi-Permalink)
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:30:31 pm »
Am I missing something?  The only way to have a T500 deck worth anything now is to hope the random cards you get from the Oracle are ones that you have other cards to utilize?  If you get something useless or stupid (like catapults) then you just don't get a decent deck until the next day?  Is that how it works?  If so, can someone explain to me the reasoning behind it?

Also, according to the text in-game, your first arena deck gets skeletons.  Mine got (as I mentioned) catapults.

The T500 decks all have some kind of uber-buffing due to the skill points, right?  So If I am lucky enough to get Oracle cards that support my strategy, and I can get that deck into the T500, I guess I need to just leave it alone, right? Because if I modify it at all I get new random Oracle cards?

Not trying to be a dumbass, but the in-game instructions are nebulous at best, and I don't have all day to search through hundreds of posts on this topic.

You have 2 options

-build new
You use the cards from the oracle to make a new deck from scratch. can only do that once a day and takes the place of your previous deck

-Modify
You can change the deck you have with no limitations and penlaties other than the 5 oracle cards already in there.

Also you can press the modify button on the top right of your post, if you want to change anything in your post instead of double posting.

I hope that cleared some stuff up

Yes, you have to either include your current oracle card, or leave you old deck up. If you don't have cards to accompany the designated card then either buy some, or include the card in a deck that doesn't support it as a "dead" card, or just leave up your deck from a previous day until you spin a more usable card. As your card collection grows this becomes less of a problem.

You can modify your deck at any time by clicking the "modify" button. Doing so will not reset your stats nor cause you to use a new oracle card. Clicking on "build a new deck" otoh, will reset your deck to the new oracle card for the day.

Yes skill points buff your deck, but you can't get skill points by simply being in the top 500, rather you have a "level" kind of like in RPGs, where your account's score is like it's experience points. The higher your score, the more skill points you get to spend to make your arena deck more powerful.

My deck is level 58.  I'm not a noob, I've been playing almost since Elements was released.  I have to say I'm not a fan of the new T500 so far.  I thought the point was to make the T500 more consistent, with more good decks as opposed to dead/farm decks.  It seems this way my only choice each day (other than lucky days I get a usable card) is to build a mostly crappy deck which includes, in all likelihood, 6 cards I don't want and can't use.  How does this make it more likely I will enter a solid deck?

Yeah...this is something you say to brand new members, not as a smart comment. There's often a very good reason for people double-posting, as long as it isn't spamming.

The Oracle's card will rarely prevent you from entering a good deck. I made a deck based on 5 skeletons, and it's currently 5th in gold league.

If you're skilled enough, you can make a good deck with almost any card. Catapult is an unlucky card to have, but you'll probably get something better next day.

Lemme see if I get this...

Today, I went into the Arena for the first time.  I built a new deck (which includes catapults against my wishes) and I enter it in (probably bronze) APvP.  I'm fairly sure it's going to lose, since I don't have -or want- cards that support catapult.  So, tomorrow, I can either modify my crappy deck or take a shot at a different set of 6 cards I probably won't use.  Repeat ad nauseum until the lucky day the oracle gives me cards I want, at which point I can have the deck I've been using for months, only super-buffed because of all the skill pts I have?

The players who will nearly always win are simply the ones who spammed the Oracle every day enough to get the seed cards they want...  I'm sorry, I know how much work must have gone into this, but it seems really stupid to me.

Sorry if i was straightforward. I dont mean anything bad by it. And I didnt mean it as a smart comment either. It just didn't seem like a 2nd post was necessary, I dont care just some people dont know.

I am just explaining what I know about t500 and hopefully trying to answer what you are asking. There really isnt a way to choose better oracle cards, but you can usually spin something out that is pretty effective. I think TORB had a catapult titan deck that is pretty hard to beat. your other choice though to to keep your decent deck from the day before instead of replacing it with one that cant really make a viable deck

I have no way of knowing if the retarded deck I am forced to build will even be effective, since I can't test it at all except vs. my usual deck.

The trainer is the closest thing to being able to test it, if you do not have other decks

It's not going to take months to get a card that can make a good arena deck. You'll probably get something decent every couple days, and the you can buy the cards to support it. If you are a skilled player, it will make it very high in the rankings.

The players who will nearly always win are simply the ones who spammed the Oracle every day enough to get the seed cards they want...  I'm sorry, I know how much work must have gone into this, but it seems really stupid to me.
Um, it doesn't really take a lot of time to visit the oracle. So I don't see how there is a problem with people that visit it every day, because that is what you are supposed to do. And if they get a strong deck, its HP will be close to 0 after a week, and it will soon fall out of the Arena. It isn't stupid, I think you are just disappointed that you aren't getting the one card you want.
