Here are some intresting cards which in my opinion deserve a special mention.
I only have 2 for 2 categories because I tend to be a harsh judge.
For Champions of Balance:Life does not have any way to deal with hostile permanents. It is my opinion that all elements should have answers to various types of problems. However certain elements should maintain a monopoly on hard control. Vines is a good example of a thematically appropriate, balanced soft permanent control for Life. It also functions as a soft anti permanent control.
Trios and Quad decks though viable are too unreliable to compete on par with the Mono, Duo and Rainbow decks. Quanta fixing cards like this one would improve these decks to the point of regular competitive viability without freeing them of reasonable costs for the added synergy of more elements.
For Champions of Expansion:This card was part of a series suggesting an expansion in the complexity of the quanta supply options for decks. It was the herald of Quanta Generator suggestions. However being a new idea is not sufficient to be a Champion or even a Notable in this category. This card idea suggests more powerful but more expensive forms of quanta generation. Good ideas tend to be obvious in hindsight.
Enables a balanced form of Milling that does not rely on destroying cards.
About Dark Kraken:
1) Ghost of the Past has a drawback that is used to justify a lower casting cost and did not fix Nightmare because Nightmare later received a vampiric buff. Good additions are not being discussed in this thread from my understanding. We are here to discuss Great additions like Pendulums or Crusader.
2) In my opinion Dark Kraken is a good card but not a great card. However it could be submitted as a Water PC fix instead of a Flooding fix. Since the inability to finish fixing flooding is thus irrelevant, my suggested additional criteria would not apply.
