Well, I understand and I share your view. It's a bad idea to change the game base because it changes the purpose of creating new creatures.

But I still think that it could be if the cost is balanced. Of course not with the abilities, but yes with the stats.
You want a 100/100 dragon? OK, when you'll be able to summon it, you'll be over.
The same with the oty. You'll have a big creature that can eat almost anything, but the cost is considerably higher so it will came much later and maybe is still better to put a plate armor on it rather than pay a higher cost.
On the example of the firefly. You'll have a unique card improved, the ones casted by the firefly queen will not be like this one.

But again, for me it's just a debate. Now I don't pretend to implement this on the game so if you want to close that I'm OK. If you want to keep debating, OK for me to.  ;)

Aside from the gameplay issues already discussed, this would probably require completely recoding the game as far as how cards are represented in your deck.  Currently it can simply be stored as a code representing which card it is, however this idea would mean the exact stats for each card would have to be stored as well.

Once about half the players have every single card, both upped and unupped, including nymphs, then we can consider making such a major change. If you want to make your own game like that, go right ahead. But until this game reaches it's end (read: constant new cards and SMALL features added), let's not make any major changes.

Its a bad idea to mess with the game ballance on this level. Do i need a 0/10 Oty? No, i dont, but i could use a couple immaterial 0/1 elite anubis', i wouldnt need more quints in my deck. Using modified cards in PvP environmet is a no go. Also, against AI, you could overpower some cards that would make FG fights to easy. This would also make really hard for Zanz to design new challenges for us.

Don't mess with Elements. Experiments is not what it needs.
