Right now my main concern with this Event is time. It appears that even with the changes to try and shorten it that it will still span a very significant timeline. I believed tiko mentioned that the average game is 20-25 turns in length. Does this mean Player 1 goes, then Player 2 goes and that's 1 turn or is that 2 turns?
The minimum expected timeline I'm coming up with assuming this Event is capped at 16 players:
* 2 weeks for deckbuilding
* Round 1 lasting 40 days (20 turns at 2 days per turn assuming 1 turn is one player moving, not both)
* Round 2 lasting 40 days
* Round 3 lasting 40 days
That's 134 days, or roughly 4.5 months, and that number doubles if 1 turn is considered both players moving. If history has shown anything it's that the longer events run, the more likely people are to drop out for whatever reason. That time frame means it is extremely likely at least 1 player, and maybe several, will drop out for some reason. The aim is to have all events run as close to 30 days as possible. Even cutting the 134 day timeline in half still put you at over double the targeted maximum event length. While I love this idea, the reality is there will need to be some major changes to somehow reduce the game lengths to make this something we can seriously consider going live with.
I'd strongly recommend that the developers and all interested players focus their brainstorming on ways to either significantly speed up the current format, or on a way to redesign the event to make it faster.
