Quote from: The Communal Card Creation team
The Communal Card Creation team congratulates Thicket|Thicket (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20858.0.html) on winning the CCC's "Soft Creature Control for Life" competition. It is a quality example of potential Soft Creature Control for the Life Element. We feel that this card would be a great improvement to Elements the Game. If you liked this card you may like the other winners Fever|Fever (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20807) and Lignification|Lignification (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20590.0.html) as well.
my introduction to this card:
Right, so this is one of my two (similar in original concept) entries for the CCC competition for soft  :life CC.

My thought process thus far:
When thinking of  :life I thought I could come up with a mechanic which was effected by the HP (i.e. life!) of a creature.
I wanted to create a CC mechanic which effected larger creatures more than smaller (soft CC?)
I got some data on the HP of creatures in the game which you can find here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20857.new.html#new)
In fairness, this probably didn't lead to much, but is perhaps valuable in the fine tuning of these two cards.
I then thought of the name "Thicket" - small creatures can get through the thicket easier than larger creatures.
Then created the two versions using this idea, one is a spell, the other a permanent.

Similar to Gravity Shield [this is a good thing because it is easier to balance with a reference]

I really like this thicket idea. Large Creatures should have more trouble moving through dense forestation.

I think that this would work best as a non shield permanent. Thus multiple castings of it represent thicker and thicker growth.

Glad you like idea! At the moment though it's not stackable though....i really wanted to make it stack, but looking at how easily 6 of these could stop any creature attacking you....:s maybe some fiddling with the % could make it stack

I think having to have six of these in play makes up for the stacking issue. This is a great card for Life.

I like it, thematically works excellently.

I'd make it cheaper, lower the chances of delay, and make it stackable ;)

Thicket + Thorn Carapace is an interesting combo.
Either you will frequently miss or you will fall quickly to the poison.

The thing is, when I was trying to make it stack well, the individual cards became quite useless, as the % was so low, and then only useful as stacked, which forces you to have more than 1 in a deck, which would be a shame....
tricky one :s examples of % and stackability welcome!

In general, thanks for feedback!  :)

I think you should submit this along with thicket patch, but you should call this one "brier patch" and also consider having the upped one do 1 damage to creatures that fail to get through.

Edit: I think that could actually be a fair shield.

Due to the synergy with Thorn Carapace it has less to worry about if played alone even when stackable.

Perhaps 15% + 5% per 3hp capping at 35% at 10+hp with a cost of 3 :life|2 :life stackable?

I like it.....A helpful ability.....and a very theme fitting card. I personally have always loved the idea of life working with plants (ents, vines, etc) I like the idea of stacking also, even if it was really good itd be no better than dimensional shield.
