IDEA: Kael Hate
NOTES: - Kael is a translation of my given name and is the name for watching or judging angel.
- Hate is a translation of my surname an is taken literally as the emotion of Hate.
- I live to Judge by my 7 virtues. This seemed an apropriate form of that, that could also make a suitable in game mechanic.
- The first version of my namesake was too personal and not game suitable in the normal situation so I have chosen this as my entry.


- Clusters
- Multiple Hates Stack but do so with only a single upkeep per cluster.
Ie1 - you have 3 copies of Hate and the opponent has a Phase Dragon. The Phase dragon must pay 1 :aether or suffer -3|-3
Ie2 - you have 1 copie of basic Hate and 1 upped Hate and the opponent has a Otyugh, when the first cluster activates the Otyugh must pay 1 :gravity or suffer -1|-1 then when the other cluster activates the Otyugh must again pay 1 :gravity or suffer -1|-1
This means spreading your Hate around is more effective but requires an investment in darkness.
- Neutral creatures cannot have the upkeep paid so will suffer the penalty regardless

I like the concept, but it literally shuts down decks (Hope in particular). Not only that, even if it doesn't completely shut down a deck, it would probably do well against many others as welll. So, with the cheap cost and Darkness already having Devourers and Vampires for stalling, I believe it's overpowered.

Thats an obvious weakness in the Hope archetype then, but so is rain of fire.

well before saying that, u should also realize there are other cards such as fire shield or unstable gas that shut down RoL hope deck anyways.

almost all decks could be shut down by one or two cards, but that doesn't mean that those cards are overpowered.
for another example, black hole shuts down most pillarless or rainbow rush decks; reflective shield and emerald shield shuts down fractal devourers or firebolt decks.

To touch more on the subject, Kael's Hate also locks down many other decks. Simply because not many decks would use more Towers or Pillars to counteract this card idea's effects. If you have six of these cards in a deck and manage to draw two while your opponent summons three monsters, you effectively disable six Pillars or Towers without including Devourers or Earthquake on the side. If you are challenging a Speed Rainbow deck, you could do irreversible damage if you mixed in stall into your deck. If this card was used against a common Physalia poison based deck, it would also be locked down. Now, what if you used Aflatoxin and this card? Would all your opponent's quanta get drained away nonstop?

Also, I did not limit my statement only to Hope decks, I just said "in particular." That just makes me want to say "Please read my whole post before answering."

Added a clarification to the notes.
The decks you mention are above the curve so I see no issue in giving the environment a meta card for these excesive archetypes. They will have to change in the presence of such a card and run a quanta base that can support the creatures they wish to rush or wind back their deck offensive.

With Aflatoxin there is no element that can be paid so they suffer the -1|-1 regardless.

So do you get a choice? I mean, if you've got 23 creatures on the table, do you get 23 pop ups saying 'You can either sacrifice 1 quanta or lose 1|1'. If not, is it done randomly? Are creatures constantly going to be fluctuating between attack and def levels?
If you get asked, is there a way to consolidate your turnly debts into one low, easy battle-ly payment?

But I think this is a bit OP. I mean, it can get close to having the quanta theft of a black hole every turn, and basically means you're getting a free attack on every creature.

@Xelax: The -1|-1 condition only applies if the enemy CANNOT pay, I believe.

Also, Aflatoxin + this + Bone wall + Condor + Boneyard = Awesomesauce.

There is No Choice in the Matter and no prompt.
In sequence order, the creature attempts to pay, if it can't then it gets the penalty.  Depending on code capabilities this will either be on your turn when the Hate stack activates or after the creature resolves its attack action. (Only one payment per player round tho)

Also, Aflatoxin + this + Bone wall + Condor + Boneyard = Awesomesauce.
The aflatoxined creature will die and a malignant cell be formed but the cell will die before it can infest. This will happen regradless of the activation methods used for coding. Same as with poisoned cells or those running into a fire shield.
