Headhunters
Original idea by: DevilLoss   |   Developed by: DevilLoss - SpikeSpiegel   |   Art by: -    |   Organized by: -

The Elemental version of Headhunter is a simple PvP event played in PvP1: players are divided in Hunters and Preys, Hunters must find and kill the Preys. Preys must survive...

1. HOW TO SIGN UP?

Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

Maximum amount of participants for this event is 20. If the event is full, you can still sign up as a reserve player, and will get a chance to join the event if any of the 20 players doesn't show up during round 1.

2. RULES

1. Each round is announced (Time and Date) at the beginning of the event. Participants must be in chat at least 10 minutes before the round starts. A round ends when all Preys are captured or all Hunters are dead or when time’s up. The time limit will be 45 minutes for each round.

2. There will be 2 targets for every ten players (example: 20 players = 4 preys - 16 hunters) every round.

3. Preys make points only by winning games in pvp1 vs NPCs (NPC= a player in pvp1 not signed up for the event).
For every victory they gain 2 points, 4 points if the victory is an Elemental Mastery.
Hunters make points winning games in pvp1 vs NPCs and capturing a prey; 1 point for every victory (even if it’s an EM), 5 points for every Prey captured + 50% of Prey points, rounded down, made in that round.
Example:
Jack is a prey, he won 10 games (2 EM) and he survived the entire round. He gains 24 points.
Tom is a prey, he won 8 games (3 EM) but he has been captured by James, an hunter that won 7 games too. Tom gains 0 points, James gains 23 points.

3. DECK BUILDING

For each round organizers will communicate (in time, of course) deck building rules. During the same round it’s not possible to modify the deck in use.

4. DUELS

The event is entirely played in PvP1.

Headhunters must go find and defeat the Targets. You only get one shot to kill a Prey, so on your first try you have to beat the target or you are out for the round; if you lose you don't gain points and you must wait until the next round to try again. If an Hunter lose a game versus a NPC can still continue the hunt…

Preys must survive until the end of the turn. If a Prey lose a game versus an Hunter doesn't gain points and must wait until the next round. If a Prey lose a game versus a NPC can still continue the round.

If you are an Hunter and you come across another Hunter, or you’re a Prey and you find another Prey,  you have two options: you can both agree to a draw, in which case you both go back on your way, or you can choose to fight. In this last case the winner can choose between:

A. to take all bonus points the loser has done and add them to own.
B. knockout the enemy and he will no longer be allowed to continue this round.

5. AFTER DUELS

For each new round make one post on the topic. In this post add all screenshots of you beating the contracted target,  bonus targets (NPG), any interactions done with allies, and the deck you used during the round.

The player with the most points for each round gets to choose the next premade deck building rules.

6. WINNER

The player that achieve most points after 5 rounds wins the event. If two people tie, they play a best-of-5 match using a premade deck used in the event. If more than two people tie, there will be a bonus round (with random preys) until there will be a winner or two players with the same points. Every round roles are changed, so at the end of round 5 everyone has played 1 round as prey and 4 rounds as hunter.

7. REWARDS

The winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon: -

sounds fun but why only 4 prey? sure it makes the hunt more exciting but i think atleast 5 would be better. overall- i like the idea :D Also- will there be a list of banned cards,(shards, nymphs, marks etc.) could make it more balanced if for some odd reason some players may not have those special cards( for new players that want to join up that doesn't have anything yet)

We set 5 rounds to avoid a too-much-long-time event. 4 preys in 20 players mean that after 5 rounds everyone has played 1 round as prey and 4 rounds as hunter. It's a way to make the event as much as possible balanced.

Minor vampire did you not read the part where the organizer will setup some premade deck ideas for the round.

i read it all and i just think it would be more helpful if there was a banlist in the OP since premade decks may have been built with cards some players may not even acquired yet.- just a suggestion really :)

Will this be on weekends? Or when, and what general time/timezone, seems like a pain to fit all people.

they arent premade deck they would be premade deck building ideas. Also its up to the player to get the cards and decide if they want to or are ready to join the event.

I think the format is a little unbalanced:

Who plays first as prey as a little advantage, think about a prey in the last round, he has a big score, so whoever defeats him earns a lot of point due to hunter bonus, so it is not reccomended to play as prey in the last turn...

Maybe we were not so clear, but if an hunter kills a prey he receive the 50% bonus of the round, not a bonus of the entire event...

The thing with basing an event on something other than facing other event players, is that it is hard to prove and hard to know if the proofs are real.
I mean, I could send you a bunch of screenshots ive taken from winning games 2 weeks ago. You have no way to see that, you have no control whatsoever on the game.

Unless, that is, if you removed the NPC part, but thats something else and its ccompletely removing a part of the event.

There's no need to hire Sherlock Holmes if, for example, the deckbuilding rules are "Mono-Aether" and you send a screen shot of your golem beating in the face of a USEMer. :P

A "total" control is nearly impossible, even in weekly tournaments. I lost several games vs people that "desynched" 10 times in a row, waiting for the perfect starter hand...

Rounds are announced early; deckbuilding rules maybe 15-30 minute before the rounds starts., to avoid what you wrote.

I like to think btw, that people who'll sign up (if this event will ever see the life), will play fair and following rules.
