Beat the Highscore!
Original idea by: Marsu | Developed by: Marsu | Art by: --- | Organized by: yet to decide
In this challenge, challengers don't directly mess their skills with each other. Instead, each challenger plays one out of 10 decks that was already built before. These 10 decks are all built around a certain theme and are rather innovative and fun to play against. Whoever wins against most of these decks without losing a BO3 once, wins the challenge.
What is special about this challenge?
Each deck has a theme. Challengers will be able to see each decks name - which gives strong hints about the decks theme and thus the cards used. Challengers are allowed to create a deck that counters the cards they think that deck will contain! Thus this challenge is
a) an interpretative one - what cards could that name stand for?
b) a deckbuilding one - how can those cards be countered?
c) a PvP challenge - obviously.
Isn't it boring if quite a lot of challengers will be able to beat all 10 decks?
Yes. This is why there's an additional rule. Each game after the first one, 2 or 4 (see below) more cards of the challenged decks will be upgraded. The challenger isn't allowed to play a single upgraded card.
How strong will those decks be?
In their fully unupgraded form, the decks will be on about AI3 level, or slightly above.
1. HOW TO SIGN UP?Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.
There is no maximum amount of participants in this event.
2. GETTING READYChoose a deck you want to play against. Build any deck, ideally one that you think counters the cards that you think this deck will use. Then PM the organizer with the name of the deck you want to play against.
3. Exact rules-Upgraded cards are banned. (for challengers)
-Shards are banned.(I changed this due to my experience regarding this event in the Duels section - Shards are allowed there and sometimes make it a bit too easy (and also boring, as decks keep repeating themselves more often))
-The first deck the challenger faces is fully unupgraded.
-If a challenger wins 2-0, the next deck he faces will have 2 upgraded cards more than the previous one.
-If a challenger wins 2-1, the next deck he faces will have 4 upgraded cards more than the previous one.
-You may not change your deck
in a BO3.
-You may (and should) change your deck after each BO3.
4. DUELS[/color]
It's a good idea to either record the matches, or take screenshots as proof, in case something weird, like a desync error, happens. Remember, a player who gets caught cheating, will be permanently banned from all Elements community PvP events, so please play fair.
5. AFTER DUELSWinner should post a new topic in the "Battle Results" section, along with short description of how the match went.
6. WINNERThe challenger to win against most decks wins this challenge. If there's a tie, the challenger who won his or her last game with the better stats wins. If this is a tie again, the challenger who won his or her game before the last game with the better stats wins, and so on.
7. REWARDSThe winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon: Yet to create.
8. ADDITIONAL NOTESWhen trying to realize this competition, a few problems occur, none of which I personally find big enough not to realize this.
a) We need (a) neutral player(s) to play the 10 decks. This might be a bit of work for those people, and their neutrality has to be ensured. Of course, I'd be willing to play as many matches as I can myself.
b) This competition is about countering. As different players face the same deck at - probably? - a different time, abuse is possible. However, I'm quite sure this won't happen in this community. It could also be prevented by forcing the challengers to all play deck x as their first match, deck y as their second, and so on.
c) It wouldn't be too fun if more than one player managed to beat all 10 decks and the winner had to be decided about the rather unimportant exact stats of the played matches. This problem could be easily solved with simply building more than 10 decks.
d) I hosted this in the "duels" section already. Check following link to have an idea how this works. Feel free to ask the participating challengers how they liked it.

9. FAQThis is my first submission and there are probably quite a few things unclear. Feel free to ask anything.
