Change the Auto-Mulligan https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=22344.msg283806#msg283806

Why Zanz did Mulligan this way:
Elements 1.21

Auto-mulligan function:

Q - How does it work?
A - If none of the cards in your initial hand can be played during the first turn (none has cost 0) you'll automatically get 7 new cards. Only once.

Q - Am I going to realize a "mulligan" happened?
A - No.

Q - Why can't I decide myself if I want a mulligan?
A1 - People would use it to drastically improve the chances of getting the desired card X in the initial hand.
A2 - It would force me to add an extra turn in pvp games before the game actually starts: more waiting, more questions, more clicking.
A3 - I still want bad/good initial hands in the game. What I do not want is having 8 cards in your hand and having to discard one during your first turn - just too frustrating.

Q - I think it should count the number of pillars instead of the number of cost 0 cards
A - There are pillar-less decks

Q - I strongly prefer the system where I can have a mulligan, but if I get one I'll get less cards and it can be repeated up to 3 times, unless it is a first Monday of the month in which case I can get 2/3 of the cards that my opponent had yesterday.
A - Simple = Better

Q - I played a game where I still could not play any card during my first turn
A - You might still draw 14 cards and no pillars - did you try adding pillars to your deck?

Some other games that use a version of the Mulligan:

A few other threads I found talking about Elements' Mulligan and suggestions on how (the posters think) it should work:

I would like to see Elements current version of the Auto-Mulligan to work for the first 3 hands.  So you get 3 Free Cost cards out of the first 10 cards in your deck.  I believe this would add strategy because we could have more non-Quantum generating cards in a deck.

In PvP1 and non-upped tournaments I run 40-50% Quantum generating cards in a 4-5 Quantum Index Deck.  This is to reduce the chances of me getting 1 Pillar/Pendulum in the first 10-15 cards out of a 30 card deck (still happens even at 50%).  Even with Tournaments being best 2 out of 3 this is not a fun way to lose.

I dislike this:

A3 - I still want bad/good initial hands in the game.
I would like more strategy and less RNG to go into deck building.

I would like an option where you can allow the player to decide wether to mulligan. (I mean, in the options menu, add an "allow auto-mulligan yes/no" or something)

It does take a long time before a PVP match, and thus it is unneeded in common games, but in important matches (for example, warmatches) the players should be able to decide for themselves as correct mulliganing is skill-dependent.

Why would someone turn off Auto-Mulligan?  Without Auto-Mulligan you can get zero free cost cards in the first half of you deck.

I mean an option to deicde wether it is automatic or you can do it for yourself.
Doing it yourself takes a lot of time in a PVP match (the server has to wait for both player's decisions and such) but in an important match like a warmatch or in a trial, players should be allowed to choose for themselves wether to mulligan or not.

Zanz has commented on this already.

He said he a manual mulligan would require pseudo turns before the actual game. He was unwilling to add pseudo turns before the actual game.

Options that are still possible:
Multiple Automatic Mulligans.
A setting that can be turned on and off for mulligan.

Okay, your don't mean Elements current version of Auto-Mulligan.  That makes sense now :)

Multiple Automatic Mulligans.

I like Multiple Automatic Mulligans, but why would someone turn off the Mulligan?

zanz has commented in the Patch Notes of ver 1.21 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,4066.0.html) why he has chosen this kind of mulligan and not another one.
I like the current auto mulligan, because of the reasons, zanz has given.
