UPDATED 26 OCT 2011
NEW CHAT:
http://teamearth.titanpad.com/1 Update 10/22/11 9:29 GMT
Deckbuilding Phase ends: 10/27/11 2100 GMT
So lets Catagorize what we have right now
Aether - Immo
Time - puripulvy - Do we want Poison > Lycan? (I made this change for now in the vault... Mith listed as Puripulvy2 - Deck #5 on Intel)
Life - Fire stall - deflags -fire shield +2 diamond shield
Death - Whole world 5 dim shield
Water - dev dragons
Air - Mono pulvy 6 BB
Entropy - Immortal (vs. Grabhole, turns 1 &2 Forest Spirits
http://imgur.com/RcYEA)
Darkness - GnG
Derpp - so Scaredgirl seems to be implying that the Round 4 event card is much more favorable to elemental teams than UW. I thought about what this could be for a while, and my guess is that the event card may be that decks must be monos. The event card might give a bonus to monos but with UW you cannot force monos.
Time - Lt. Dragonsdemense vs. MartyrX
My inclination is to go away from our wings decks for now after showing it twice, as their vault and strategy is strong enough to focus on countering this.
EQs - likely, Wings - likely
EQ is likely less effective for us because of the play involving 6 upped cards.
Known decks: Nymphbow, Momo Scorps, Mini IGT, Flying IGT, Grabbow, Light/Sanc Duo, Discobow
These decks make up 278/375 vault card (71.4%)
-Martyr is setup with 4 decks vs. all known Time Decks + 1 hypothetical.
Death - PlayerOa vs. CCCombobreaker
EQs - possible, Wings - Yes(EQs are possible, but unlikely. If they were kept from the RD2 deck that means they discarded 23 Death cards, not something I see as likely)
Known decks: Grabbow, Wings Duo, Pandebonium, Mummy Duo
These decks make up 121/293 vault cards (41.3%)
I really like this Whole World mod:
58r 58u 58u 58u 58u 594 594 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 622 622 622 622 77a 77e 808 8pu
http://helltgivre.free.fr/elements/?deck=58rz458uz1594z75aaz161oz461tz362277a78q8088puperformed as well or better than standard whole world in all matchups vs known death decks in tester. If any noteworthy decks are not on that list please post them here so I can test them. Thanks!
Water - Gillero vs. Bogtro
Obvious plays: Arctic Infection, Trident
EQs - possible if save from discard or hiding in vault, Wings - Yes(Water had 4 near monos (25+ Water cards) lose this round, their vault could be very, very strained since Water cards are simply not salvageable in War.)
Known decks: RT Spam, Lightning Spam, Steamer Duo, Arctic Infection
These decks make up 124/240 vault cards (51.6%)
Water seems to be a CC element, so how about an Aether "rush" (e.g. play drags and no shields)? Maybe w/SS or BB fo rstalling capacity - The only problem with this is that water tends to rush very hard, even when they are powering their CC.
The deck I used last round (PUGons) seems like it might work decently, unless they are ready for it. It really shuts down their CC as it can't really take out the drags, and they don't really have perm control. It would have to have more pillars and less other stuff though IMO because of the RT threat.
// Arena just reminded me: Chryssora is an annoying threat.
590 590 590 593 593 593 593 593 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5aa 5rm 5rm 5rm 5ro 5ro 5ro 77g 77g 77g 8ps
Life - The Mormegil vs. Sevs
The obvious play to me (for them) is the adrenavamps deck they used in round 2, or some variant of the same deck. They will likely try and defend against our PUGons deck from the previous round as well.
EQs - Not likely, Wings - Not likely, Dims - Not likely (unless they saved over fractal)
Known decks: Adrenavamps, Mitosaders, Firestall
These decks make up 103/253 vault cards (40.7%)
Air - Gen. DrunkDestroyer vs. Lt. Mithcairion
Its still important to counter dragons & OE/Wings here.
EQs - haven't seen any to this point, although protection is not a bad idea, Wings - Of course.
Known decks: Fire Duo, RoL-Hope, Grabbow, Dev Duo
These decks make up 123/321 vault cards (38.3%)
Entropy - Gumbeh vs. AnnaMall
They still threaten with a versatile deck spread. It is likely that we are best off trying to win paper, scissors, rock this round. The deck I am most interested in countering is a dragon heavy mono.
EQs - likely saved enough to fit into a discobow, Wings - Yes
Known decks: Grabhole, Mini Grabhole, CP Dragon, Dishole, Mark RTs, Pandebonium
These decks make up 180/372 vault cards (48.4%)
Darkness - Terroking vs. Avenger
Steals and Devtal still threaten. Its possible (but not likely) Terro could run dev/EQ if they have EQs hiding in their vault. His favorite card is LS so I would be sure to protect against it. They definitely were able to salvage enough to make a 2nd grabbow this round. I don't think we can trick them again by running a CC heavy grabbow. I would lean more towards a damage-based Grabbow, whole world w/o shields, or immortal.
EQs - Not likely, Wings - Not likely
Known decks: PU LS/Gons, NotP, Devtal
These decks make up 90/217 vault cards (41.5%)
Aether - Lt. mrpaper vs. Gen. kirchj33
Their deck possibilities expand greatly with a lt. deck. Bonebolt, RoL-Hope & Fractix are the most likely plays. Devtal is unlikely, but we know they have at least 2 in the vault.
EQs - Yes, Wings - Not Likely
Known decks: Bonebolt, Light Stall, Devtal, Fractix, EQ Grabbow
I would think Time may definitely go for the Stall Event Card.
Rd3 is up!
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,32818.0.htmlEVENT
Teams must secretly choose one of the following Event Cards and PM their choice to Warmaster. All choices will be made public when the Battle Phase begins. Card that the team chose, applies to all the members of that team. The card they did not choose, has no effect on that team.
Rush - Players who win one or more duels before the 13th turn may salvage 3 additional cards on a win.
Stall - Players who win one or more duels by decking their opponent out may salvage an additional 6 cards on a win.
MATCHES
Wow great round again. exceptional effort-sevs
Round 3 is up
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,32818.0.htmlEvent card Discussion
Rush or Stall?
In reality i support neither just build a strong decks and what ever works best we will use.
I would just use "stall" because we have the immortal anyway. I would say we probably should watchout for more eternities this round.
Also for grabbows. I recommend more creatures than 6 grabboids. As good as they are with all types of buffs, CC and other stuff, the chance of drawing enough of the creatures is pretty big especially is a lot of cc is brought.
Sevs vs The Mormegil (LIFE)
Possible Decks Immortal?
CCCombobreaker vs PlayerOa (DEATH)
Possible Decks `death stall?
bogtro vs Gillero (WATER)
Possible Decks wings? they only have a dragon so pair
Gen. kirchj33 vs Lt. mrpaper (AETHER)
Possible Decks They lost a lot of lightnings. and 2 bonebolts. i think we should prepare for fractix if anything. MA is always a possibility as well. if we can beat both we should be in good shape possibly immo rush?
MartyrX vs Lt. dragonsdemesne (TIME)
Possible Decks I would test Mith's variation of our EQ Wings with purify and nova?
AnnaMall vs Gumbeh (ENTROPY)
Possible Decks lightning grabby
Avenger vs Terroking (DARKNESS)
Possible Decks Fire earth duo
Lt. Mithcairion vs Gen. DrunkDestroyer (AIR)
Possible Decks mono with pulvy? 6 BB's
Another great round! Well done everyone! I am certain, by now you all notice that we have a TON of work to do for the next few rounds. If we are to become serious contenders in war, these upcoming rounds are the most important for us.
I need someone to step up and finish the Decks Used By Opponents shortly (within the next 12 hours).
Quote my post here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,32434.msg443275#msg443275and fill in the rest. Its currently about half done and updated through UTA (Aether) vs. PuppyChow (Gravity) when moving one by one down the round 2 battle results thread found here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,247.0.htmlFrom there we can take the non-duplicated winning decks from rounds 1 and 2 and start testing vs. these. This should give us a solid idea of what works, and what doesn't with about 75% of each elements vaults revealed.
I would like Mith to finish an in-depth vault analysis for each opponent. It is important to make special note of potential vault cards such as EQ and wings.
I hope to get a jump on testing before round 3 is even announced. We've got some huge matches coming up against many new opponents and vs. untested decks.
I found that Googledocs is better for this information gathering.
See the used decks page for all the deck codes. If the format needs some upgrade feel free to do it.

INTRO
First off, let me say it’s a pleasure to have all of you fighting along my side for this war. I truly believe we can win and you all should too! It will be a tough road ahead of us, but just because earth hasn’t performed well in the past, I don’t think it is a good reflection upon the element’s power. I think the past teams lacked focus in their decks, morale, work-ethic, were short on testing, and took silly penalties to list a few of the shortcomings from what I have seen looking back historically.
EXPECTATIONS
Each of you were chosen for you various strengths. Some of you have deckbuilding skills, some strategic, some artistic, some morale-boosting, some statistical analytic skills amongst others. What I expect out of everyone is the following:
1. You stay active in forums, chat, and schedule & arrive on time for each of your matches.
2. You maintain a positive attitude and support your teammates
3. You learn how to play your decks vs. potential opposing decks and play them to the best of your abilities.
4. You play test and track stats as much as possible
5. You communicate well within the team
If each of us does only this, it will lead to success and wins will follow. I want you to be efficient in your war activities so that you get the most out of your in-elements time during war.
My strengths certainly lie within my deckbuilding skill for those of you that don’t already know. I will definitely need help with meta-ing (predicting opponents, or strategy) and managing the vault. Most of the vault management will fall on the shoulders of myself, Mith, sevs, and Avenger, but any additional help is welcome. Deckbuilding help and suggestions are certainly welcome as well. Please backup any decks made with statistical analysis. I find that testing in war is crucial, not only for making a strong deck, but for finding holes in opposing decks as well.
Howdy, I'm Mith! I would definitely say that my strengths lie in strategy in both metagaming as well as getting a read on people as a whole. I'm also pretty good at looking at the ebb and flow of War and making reasonably good guesses as to which way teams will go with their Salvaging and Discarding. That being said, if anyone is a Googledocs pro, there is a project I would like you to work on, as last War I found that it greatly helped my analysies, although I don't have the skill necessary to recreate said document. Send me a message in chat, forum PM, smoke signals, carrier pigeon, whatever.
Hi I am Sevs, I like to be neat organized and ready. I can't say I am exceptional in anything in particular, but I feel like I am pretty well rounded. Also I am a huge fan or originality, if you cant be original why put effort into something?
Hello, I am bogtro. I would be lying if I claimed that I had only tremendous skill, but I feel like I make up for what I lack in deckbuilding with a willingness to put in long hours of work. I'm relatively new to this game, as I've only played a few months, but in that time I've participated in community events, leagues, tournaments, and the like. As I said, my deckbuilding isn't all that great, but I sometimes surprise everyone with a flash of brilliance (although more often, I fail pretty hard xD). I sometimes also do well with predictions, but I never follow them >.>. I live on the East Coast (GMT-5?).
Whats up everyone. I am MartyrX. I am not too skilled when it comes to deck building, but I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and am certainly used to the long hours. I believe that morale and strategy are very important and should never be taken lightly. I look forward to conversing and fighting along side you as my brethren. Like most of us here I am from the East Coast, but live in Central Time. Godspeed everyone. "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." ~ George S. Patton
Hihi. I'm CCCombobreaker. I really enjoy inventing new (especially quirky) decks but usually fall a little short on thouroughly testing them... I also tend to play matches hesitantly and this has cost me more than a few games, but I am working on it. I also enjoy doing image mashups in paint. If you don't have an earth avatar feel free to use on of the ones I made (in propaganda section) or give me an idea and I can make you a custom one. I am GMT -6 (Central US)... and am on a lot, but also afk quite sporatically as my work rarely has a set schedule and I am always on call. I can check the forums from my blackberry but not this page... so if you need a quick response send me a forums PM. I check it pretty regularly.
Hi everybody. I am AnnaMall and i have been a regular in this game for a year almost but became to socialise very recently (enjoy kicking the AI too much). My PvP skills are limited but I listen and I put in the long hours. Please gimme direct orders on what to do precisely (more comfortable for me) and tutor me as i dont get offended. In my view this is a very luck dependent game and with litlle luck anything can happen. My plan is to do as much testing as i can until the brackets arrive...then I will follow orders. Expect me online everyday 16:00 to 00:00 (+2 GMT) apart from 6-10 days a month (36hours shifts Oo). PS typing breaks my trucker mode and i might look antisocial.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now let me walk you through the war process in a bit more detail so that those of you who were not involved in the past can stay proactive and involved instead of floundering around confused at times like I did in my first war:
AUCTION
The auction has now ended so the next step will be to familiarize yourself with this document, start building decks, preparing ideas, and testing. For those of you who need to farm for rares I suggest AI3's (elders) & Arena. For those of you who need to farm electrum for upgrades I suggest false gods. Here is a list of the most productive false god farmers (scroll down for better decks, i.e. Upped Decks):
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,25609.msg349336#msg349336DECK IDEAS/TESTING
This is not an official part of war, but now would be the appropriate time to discuss this. 100+ hours have already been dedicated to this portion of War Prep, and I am certain it will be a huge key to our success.
1. Begin here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AprBQuUifY8mdDg0Y05SeUU1LUdnVl9UQXJOVXBzV0E&hl=en_US&pli=1#gid=12. If you have a deck idea that needs fine-tuning, please put those in the Decks In Progress section and follow the format already used.
3. If something is strong enough that you feel it could be tested, please turn your attention to the deck testing tab. Right click on a column and create a new column, name the deck concept, and insert the deck code.
4. Begin testing in the trainer found here:
http://www.elementsthegame.com/trainer5 games against each of the decks found in column A should help give an idea of the deck's overall strength.
Some tips/guidelines to think about when creating decks:
1. I would like to focus on some of our deck deficiencies when creating decks.
2. I place a higher value on flexible decks that have overall strength, as opposed to those which are specific counters. That being said, less powerful decks have their place in war too if they require specific counters themselves. Don't expect these kinds of decks to carry us deep into war, however.
3. Please focus on tweaking already made decks as well. Those posted already are by no means perfect. Green indicates decks I am 90% sure we will carry into our vault, yellow indicates a deck I am somewhat undecided on, Red means I will not be considering taking the deck because it simply does not have enough strength.
4. Be aware that when testing decks, there is a considerable amount of AI fail. For this reason I place more value in overall stats to indicate a deck is good and any given matchup can be misleading on a specific deck vs. deck basis.
5. Concepts that have been developed and failed thus far for Mith & I:
Dev/EQ
Trident
Lockbow (Trident/Dev/EQ Rainbow)
Liquid Shadow & Steel/Hematite Golems
6. Specific Earth Counters/Popular War Deck concepts that every deck we create should keep in mind:
Grabbows
Wings/Dim Shields
Quanta Splits
Stalls (particularly poison & sanc stalls)
Reverse Time (as an overall element, we are particularly vulnerable to it)
Black Hole. This one is a little dicier, as it is not a viable strategy for most elements, and even elements where it would be a strength can be hard pressed to make it viable. Still, considering the tight quanta production of so many decks, it is something that needs to be accounted for.
7. I think the decks Mith & I have made to this point have one weakness I'm scared of: Earthquake. We offset this weakness by having access to multiple grabbows, gnomes & a nice immorush, but those teams that are particularly good at strategy may be able to meta and figure out which opponents we will use these less susceptable decks and exploit our reliance upon pends through EQ or discord.
PROPAGANDA
Propaganda can be better explained as found in the archive here:http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13198.msg177628#msg177628
This war's propaganda should follow a similar format.
1. War Banner/Flag - CCC will be in charge of this. I have virtually no artistic ability. Others who like to design art can pitch in. We will likely vote on a favorite banner, but I'll leave the decision up to CCC. Banner links and info can be found here:

Just wanted everyone to be aware. - So in terms of timeframe, we have until 10/16 to deckbuild, test & build a vault.

War Speech - I will leave Mith in charge of this. He is an excellent writer. Anyone else with particular literary talents feel free to pitch in. Mith will ultimately post the speech here:
CCCombobreaker's idea: (I am trying to theme all our stuff as "Protect Earth", but it's still flexible)
We are gathered here this day for one purpose. Yesterday we may have been normal men, but today we are champions of cause so great we cannot fail. Earth faces an unprecedented danger... water is rising to try and swallow it, fire stokes itselve to consume it, darkness tries to blot it out, light tries to blind it, death creeps in to poison all we hold dear, gravity seeks to crush it, the aether has manifested to disintigrate it, it's living things have risen up to tear it apart, air is creating powerful winds to wipe it away, entropy would drive it into a total and final madness, and time is hastening to turn it into nothingness from whence it came. We cannot think of yesterday, we must focus on today. Today we go to war so that we can forge for Earth a new tomorrow. We must fight to protect Earth!
Mith's version of a speech:
At long last, he stood victorious over the broken and battered form of his foes. His path to get here had been long and arduous, but he had finally reached his goal. Burrowed deep beneath the crust of the terra, he took stock of all that now belonged to him. The power to tear the very terrain asunder beckoned to him.
“Yes,” he thought, “this will do very well.”
The time was coming. For now, kirchj would lie in wait, licking his wounds and planning. He would need others to aid in the coming war. A War to end all wars.
Unburrow!
It is no longer time to sit idly by and wait while the tides of War rage around us. The fires have raged for for far too long, and choas has reigned supreme for the final time. For too long has our mother earth been threatened by the minions of our enemies. We are gathered here this day for one purpose. While yesterday we may have been but normal men, today we are champions of cause so great that we cannot fail. While they may claim holy motives, we shall not be deterred in defending our home. Though they may be cloaked in darkness, none shall escape our wrath. Not even the never ending dance of life and death shall give pause to our hand, for ours is a war of necessity, not of greed. Our adversaries may wheel through the air or even be ripped from the fabric of another universe, but our resolve shall never flag or fail! Our Graboids will bury our enemies beneath our righteous anger. We shall rip loose the very ground beneath the feet of our foes! The time has come; the time is now! We must fight to protect our mother Earth! Denizens of the terra firma, join us as we give battle! This...is...War!
-CCC I like it
War Movie -
http://animoto.com/play/ioycvXieSuS1aKUAAr11Zg#Progaganda Bonus - Winner gets 24 extra vault cards, runner up gets 18, everyone else gets 12 as long as they complete all 3 portions.
VAULT BUILDING
Vaults will be built using the following formula:
400 cards - auction bids (34) + propaganda bonus
Again, I will refer you to the following document:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvdifMTdMyhEdHFKSWdneDZvZ0hEQTVxak42UkxNX3c&hl=en_US#gid=31Please feel free to play around with this so you can get an idea of how it works. Feel free to even simulate a round or two so that you can get a good feel for how salvage/discard works, this is probably the most complicated feature of managing the vault. Especially when you add in penalties and event cards (to be explained later).
WAR!!!!
BETWEEN ROUNDS
After war starts, this is where the real battles are won and lost. It is important to keep morale high in chat regardless of each round's outcome.
Between Round tasks:
1. Track opposing vault changes. This is a guess and requires some skill. Everyone is welcome to analyze other matchups and make suggestions, but ultimately the strategist will be the final word here.
2. Post all decks used by every team in each round.
3. Discard/Salvage/Penalties - We will need to decide what to discard (24 cards from each losing deck), and save (salvage 6 cards from each winning deck). We cannot really move forward to the next phases of between round prep until this is done. With the Salvages and Discards set at these levels, it is likely that teams in War will be running through their vault relatively quickly as a team must go at least 7-1 in a round to avoid attrition. Keeping that in mind, it is vital that we do the best job that we can in both preparing effective decks, and "mindgating" what we can about our opponents. More about this in the Strategy section and Deck Testing 6B. One final thought here, this phase will blur with #5 & #6. It is important to keep all of these phases in mind, even before matchups are announced so that decks take forms that have strength for upcoming matchups.
4. Event Cards/Matchups - At some point after the round is finished, the next round will be announced
Event Cards - These are silly (read: rage inducing ) little cards that have an effect only once on their respective rounds. Some offer teams choices (ex. - Use 3 additional upped card at the cost of sacrificing 3 cards in your vault), others are requirements imposed on that specific round (ex. - ALL decks must be 35 cards or larger)
Matchups - Individual players will have matchups posted vs. other players from other elements. Each of our players will play someone from each (not all) of the different elements. The number of matches scheduled will be determined according to each element's vault size:
0-29 cards=team is eliminated
30-65 cards=1 player fights
66-98 cards=2 players fight
99-131 cards=3 players fight
132-164 cards=4 players fight
165-197 cards=5 players fight
198-230 cards=6 players fight
231-263 cards=7 players fight
264+ cards=8 players fight
Unfortunately this means some of us will be fighting matches in war longer than others, but I encourage everyone on Team Earth (Earthlings) to stay involved, even after their spot has been eliminated.
5. Build decks in preparation of next round's matchup using current vault cards (This can and will be swapped interchangeably in order with #6)
6. Deck Testing vs. each specific opponent. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Two reasons why:
A. Practice makes perfect. In order to understand and get the most out of your deck, it is imperative that you practice your deck vs. each opponent.
B. This helps to give an idea of how effectie a particular deck idea or concept really is against the various decks we think we might see from an opponent.
The result will be that after testing decks, we may need to rebuild other decks in order to optimize our overall chances based upon what is currently available to us in our vault. Vaults will be EXTREMELY strained from rounds 3 onward this war so expect some uncomfortable decks.
7. Schedule your match with your oppenent and plan to show up on time. Document all conversation that occurs with your opponent, whether it be through forum pm's or in chat.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAY TIPS
1. Screenshot all desyncs. Both at the time the desync is occuring and at the win screen if you happen to beat the AI afterwards. This ensures no games which should be won will be replayed. Have MS Paint open at all times during matches in order to paste the screenshots you take. Also, DO NOT tab around while searching for, or playing matches. Leave chat in a separate browser and if you need a bolt/quanta calculator, keep this in a separate browser as well. I use this:
http://jumpoffduck.co.cc/elements/bolt.htm2. Earthquakes - You are now an Earthling, it is important you master the usage of Earthquakes. General EQ rules of thumb:
Quanta Stacks of 1: Leave alone
Quanta Stacks of 2: EQ situationally (definitely in early turns, use discretion later)
Quanta Stacks of 3: EQ that shit!
vs. Novabows/Immo decks: EQ anything you have excess quanta for
If you have any questions/problems with English language translation, PLEASE ask.
TIPS AGAINST SPECIFIC DECKS
better nova pulvy tbd vs firestall - use BB on early creatures, destroying priority: fh, fireshield, sanc
against dune scorp and poison/miracle - drop as much damage on the table as possible poison/miracle destroying priority: shield, arse
What People Say In Earth Chat
