so i was at school and got to thinking
why not make a devour creature that would absorb the ability of the creature it devoured
of course that would get rid of the ability to devour so i was wondering what kind of stats it should have, any help?

It would be strong....  So cost balancing would be in order.


Also this sounds a lot like Kirby.

never thought of the kirby comparison, hmph, but yes it is just like kirby except kirby can spit out the enemy and eat a new one, unlike this

I would balance this as

Casting Cost = Value of Stats + Value of Average stolen ability + 1? (one time devour if HP<5?)

On a sidenote, your idea of 'absorbing' an ability somewhat relates to these two Armory cards:

With the exception that unlike those two, you're not just 'lobotomizing' the creature, but you're also consuming it, meaning that you actually kill the creature and mimic it as well, which is fairly powerful as an ability.

yes it is consuming, the first topic i believe doesnt lobotomize, the second does, and this one consumes BUT since it does consume, we can limit it by its max hp which is why i put it in design theory to help figure out what its atk|hp is

2&3 are the same question
I would suggest 4hp and an additional cost of 4quanta as a starting point.

Maybe the absorbed ability should be temporary, like after 4 turns, the devour ability comes back and the atk|hp returns to normal, or normal +1|+1.

Could call it Image or Dream or something.

But that would make it :light. Bad thing? Or other element like :entropy?

please go to the card ideas and art page (ingesting goo | ingesting plasma) for all suggestions,
meh, the idea is ok, but not what i was going for, and a little too complicated coding i believe, make things simple

A "copy target creature's ability" ability would be pretty cool. Absorb, Ditto, copy, or perceive would all be good names for the ability or the creature.  ;)
