It might be just a small peeve of mine, but on the card images could you put "Art by www.sxc.hu" and "Art by www.fotonostra.com" for the unupgraded and upgraded respectively?
When I see "Art by Hyroen" I assume Hyroen made the art. It is easily misleading. I wouldn't quite say editing an image would make it yours.
Merely following the guidelines found in the OP here (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5039.0.html).
When filling out the table make sure you Credit the Artwork.
- If the artwork was created by you or is an artwork generated from royalty free image to create something unique by you then put your name in the Table and on the card Image. You can claim the artist credit.
- If the artwork is royalty free and/or public domain then no credit is required on the card image, but in the table put a link to the source.
- If the artwork copyrighted, ask the artist a permission to use the image! The card image should include the artist name, and the table should have both the artist name and a link to the source location.
Why do we need links? Because if you like the art for the game, Zanz might like the art also. A link makes it easy for him to track down an artist and request work or find free images if available so that he can use them in the game. Also its respect to the artist. They take the time to create art that we enjoy and if we expect them to share their work in any public form we should acknowledge their efforts.
I understand it can be frustrating coming from someone who creates the original art (something which I've done already a couple of times for my own cards), but I don't think you realize the amount of effort and time it can take to get a picture just right. The aim with the vast majority of my images is to adjust live photographs so they suit a card game more. I also have a scanner, and I'm quite skilled with a pen or a pencil, but I prefer to go this route at the moment. I suppose I could try with my own photographs, but (a) I'm not a very skilled photographer; and (b) Anacondas are rare on the east coast of Canada right now. I'm not going to make a card that isn't pretty either, and live photography just doesn't do it. It's a hobby of mine that I enjoy even with my own personal photographs. I am always sure to list licenses and give credit where credit as due, links are always thoroughly checked, and in some cases I've even notified the original artist, if the need arises. In the case of Righteous Zealot (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19435.msg263649#msg263649), I have cited the original art.
By no means am I trying to give you any excuses, but I'd prefer to see "Original Art by Hyroen" on
your cards. I think everyone wins that way
Aside, for the Image Licence for Anaconda, it's lovely that it's there but as it's completely in Spanish I imagine it won't do any good for a majority of the people that follow the link.
Mind translating it?
My Spanish is a bit subpar, as it's a learned language. I was kind of hoping someone who spoke Spanish better than I would volunteer their services, but as per Google Translator (

I hope that satisfies. I'm not looking for fights, I just enjoy what I do. If there are any further issues just let me know and I'd be happy to help as I can.
