Nice idea!

I like the art and I'm 100% sure I've seen it before. Not from the site you linked though but it doesn't really matter.

Nice card, seems balanced, well thought out. Good job!

Increase cost, make a creature that's active ability removes phobia (therapist? :P), and that's about all I can think of.

Reasoning: For 6 :death, you can completely lock down someone's ability to play cards for several turns.

A card that removes phobia is currently the only counter. If you lock down spells, then they can't deflag, and they'd have to have a Pulvy or BE'd creature to counter. Too small of a window for countering. Making a creature that soothes (life) away your fears is ideal.

Perhaps Purify?  :P

My calcs for the casting cost were based off Silence. Somewhat similar. After creating the card I (as usual) doubted myself and decided to post/leave it up to my betters. I agree that it might cost a little less than it should, but I don't think it should cost as much as 6 :death.

EDIT: scratch that last part. Upon genuflect, I see your point.

It seems slightly weaker but potentially more useful than Silence.
Stacking is no problem 3 Dreads = 3 Silences

Hmm...append to the card: "...as long as Dread | Fear is in play?"

Now the only problem is the fact that you need something that remains on the field, and activates an ability that removes phobias. After all, you can't play Purify if you're locked down on spells, so having something that remains on the field and cancels phobias is good.

Also, the things that remove phobias need to have other benefits, or they'll be too situational.

You've given me much food for thought. I'll have to digest for a bit, but I see where you're going, I think...you're suggesting a viable counter card? Or do you mean there should be a kicker of some sort?

There needs to be a counter, but rather than coevolution of cards (where cards are developed to directly counter other cards. e.g. Flesh Spider), create a web of cards. Cards that can interact with an enormous variety of situations. So, make a card that cancels phobias, but don't stop there. Make it a card that can react to other cards in the game. Make it hardly situational, extremely versatile, even if it means sacrificing stats for skills.

All strategies need a counter however not all cards need a direct counter. Silence has no direct counter. Dread is a silencesque card and thus needs no direct counter.

I concur but I like where's he's going with this. I've already drawn up ideas for an "Asylum" type card.

Scratch that. The card is either too situational or doesn't apply at all. I might follow up on it but for now, Dread & Fear will remain standalone.
