PSEUDO ELEMENT

CRUCIBLE Level 1

pseu·do    1. not actually but having the appearance of; pretended; false or spurious; sham.    2. almost, approaching, or trying to be.

Due to their particular mechanics of quanta usage, Pseudo Element cards are unable to fit into any of the regular Element (or 'Other') polls found in this level. They have their own separate poll on this topic and level up just like all the other ideas.

Spoiler for Pseudo Element Definition:

A card idea belongs to Pseudo Element if one of the following apply:


A) Card does NOT belong to any of the 12 elements (or 'Other')
This can usually be confirmed visually by looking at the card image. It includes all kinds of hybrids and cards that have a unique casting cost. If a card has a unique look or unique basic mechanics, it is very likely to belong to Pseudo Element.

B) Card uses a new type of quanta
This is also easy to check visually. If the card uses a new type of quanta icon anywhere on the card, it belongs to Pseudo Element. Note: this rule cannot be bypassed by simply not including quanta art but keeping the mechanics intact. If an icon is needed on the card (either casting or ability cost) it must be included or the card image is invalid.


Examples of Pseudo Element card ideas:
- Card uses a new type of card background art
- Card is a hybrid card that uses quanta from two different elements as casting cost
- Card uses a new type of quanta as casting cost
- Card uses a new type of quanta icon in ability box
- Text in the ability box talks about some new type of quanta that does not exist in the game


If you want to know more or are not sure in which category your card belongs, post your questions on this topic. But keep in mind that you do not necessarily have to know the category of your card idea. All ideas are posted in Level 0 and it is the Card Curators that determine the category when the idea is moved to Crucible.

NOTE: Cards with a '*' symbol before them will not be eliminated from the current list of options when the current round of voting is over, and usually imply that they have entered the Crucible after the polls have already started. Ones with multiple '*' mean that they will survive for additional rounds per '*'.

Hasn't been growing much lately but we'll see where it heads.

The card threads should have explanations in their respective notes, no need to have a list in here for every possible form of pseudoquanta possibly conceivable.

While this may be a good link to have in the OP, not all future Pseudo-Element ideas may be involved with that thread. In short, it may cause confusion and possibly create a misunderstanding that that Pseudoquanta thread is the "official" thread for all things Pseudo-Elements.

While I agree that the PQ thread is useful, this thread extends far beyond the Pseudo Quanta ideas that the CCC team (and others) have developed. People can literally come in here with a 15th element called "Acid", and it would qualify just as much as the cards that require 'Mirror' and 'Void' quanta. If anything, when a thread is made to help contain all of the Pseudo Quanta and Pseudo Element ideas, I'll stick it up in the main post. But until then, I don't know if that topic is comprehensive enough of all the potential cards that we'll be seeing soon. (Second card added by the way)
