why is an air card giving , , , and a ability.... i understand the concept of ascendance but really? .. also ascendence as is in the card is not a word... ascendancy, transcendence, etc but not that spelling..

It's an ultimate buff spell. Kinda fits with freedom of movement,

One wonders why Tailwind has the early lead over Strata when they essentially do the same thing, but Strata does it better.  Is Strata overpowered?  I didn't get any sentiments in that direction when I made it.

Aside from pure game balance issues, some ideas are simply favored for another slightly similar card based on whether it's a spell, creature, or permanent. Also, sometimes people may vote for cards based on other factors: card art (which will change relatively soon), inspirational aspect (does it trigger one's imagination in the Element's world?), or even theme (birds vs. other flying creatures).

Aside from the aesthetic differences, a creature that has a passive field effect  for +1/+1 to all flying creatures is much more useful than a spell that gives +1/+0 to all flying creatures.  For one, Strata lasts indefinitely instead of just one turn, is only one card instead of having to play multiple copies, and gives a better buff.
