Specific Decks in the Vault (Semi-Permalink)
« on: April 03, 2011, 03:25:07 am »
"i would say we take 5-7 specific decks and fill the rest with cards we can build efficient counters" - hrmmm

Since we have less than 3 days to make our vault, I figured we would go ahead and see what decks to add in. Choose 7 decks, which is 20% of them.

Also, when deciding the Top 5-7 decks, do you think similar decks should have their votes combined?
For example, say that Stoneskin Stall A has 2 votes and Stoneskin Stall B has 1 vote. Would that mean 3 votes to Stoneskin Stall A if the two decks are very similar?

I'd say if it has around 50-75% of the deck similar it should probably be merged.

thank you, voted.

i think the main goal of this vote, might be to determine which dous we want to have the most cards in our vault.

e.g.if we take a stoneskin stall, it need just 6 more cards to make a warden deck out of it (assumed we have some blessing anyways in our base vault).
this grants us the most flexible vault.

if a deck cant change during the deckbuilding rounds - e.g. we have only 6 devourers in the vault, but no other darkness combo cards - we will pretty much srew up our vault, if a deck wont work like planed.

i like to take this vote as a base to see which cards the vault needs beside them and besides basic :light cards.

There's no easy way to do this, so I'll break it into core/necessary cards, plus optional/flavor cards:

 :fire
Firestall is a must (bolts, Fahrenheit, fire shields, explosion)  +/- rain of Fire, rage potions
Immolation deck (phoenix, immolation) +/- lava golem

 :earth
Stoneskin stall (SS, EA, titanium shield) +/- EQ, wardens**   (**would really love wardens if they killed airbornes, but stalling only is meh.)

 :death
Poison stalls  (arsenic, poison) +/- bonewalls, skull shields, plagues

 :time
(Eternity, reverse time, dune scorpions) +/- sundials

 :entropy
Discorders (discord, BE, antimatter, purple dragons) +/- chaos seed, pandemonium

 :gravity
Otyugh decks (otyugh, momentum) +/- chargers, grav shield

Another consideration for our vault is this:  what decks will team :light face?  What cards will give us the most trouble?

Possible counters for out stalls:
EQ + pulverizer (for sanctuary)
Pestal (with plenty of steals for our sanctuaries)
Discord (either mono with BE or duo with steal/explosion for our sanctuaries)

Possible counters for Crusader decks:
Reverse time/Eternity
Antimatter (for vampire crusaders/flying stilettos--also good against our dragons/pegasi)

Random thoughts:
:air bother me since last war they did a lot of BE on dragonflies but also played dragons.  Fireshield will only help with the small guys, but dragons are another story.

The reason I like some of the :darkness decks is that it offers a chance to steal back our own sanctuaries (ha! 2 can play this game) and offers a wonderful healing/damage mechanism with stilettos.  LS would offer a lobotomizer option for those pesky creature abilities (especially BE.)  Nightmare is not something I think other teams are prepared to see from us, so it'd screw up the fractal decks and put a crimp on early game development.  It's a weak card overall, but could really screw up an opponent.

Having many different kinds of duos has its own advantages and disadvantages. With few different duos, a specific duo will have more cards to choose from. With many different duos, the team will have more strategies to choose from and will be able to adapt to salvaged cards.
Note that "Teams can convert a maximum of 24 cards per round."
We won't need 12 different duos because we can convert unusable cards.

I think the current 6 duos Boingo posted will work (fire, earth, death, time, entropy, gravity).

How about we make 6 duos from those elements (and possibly a rainbow).
The rest of the cards could support those duos and be cards you could switch in and out, depending on the opponent.
Somehow still around, somewhat

I do think we need to take a Vader Sader deck though, probably one high on Steals and forego the Sanctuaries.  Pack Steals, some Pends, 5 FW, and 5/6 Vampire Stilettos is a strong deck indeed, especially when SoGs are not in this environment.  Most elements will be short on healing the way we aren't.

Flying weapons are nearly a must.  But for the regular soldier to use it we'll either need novas for :air quanta, power it with a mark (and pack darkness pillars/pendula) or limit those decks to Generals/lieutenants.
Bring back Holy Cow!

Common Duos

Earth - 7
Max HP - 3
Miracle/SS Stall - 1
Blessed Wardens - 1
Blessed Wardens hrmmm's alternate - 2

Fire - 7
Sanctuary Firestall - 3
Firestall 34 card w/ Miracle - 2
Immo Rush - 2

Gravity - 6
Blessed Otyughs (Boingo alternate) - 4
Acc. angels - 2

Time - 5
Desert Crusaders - 1
Poison of the Sun - 4

Entropy - 5
Discorders - 5

Death - 4
Poison Miracle Stall - 2
Sanctuary Version - 2

Rainbow - 3
Graboid Pegasus Rushbow - 3

Air - 2
Winged Sader - 1
Peggy/Wings - 1

Darkness - 1
Vader Sader (sanctuary style) - 1

So it looks like we will be taking Earth, Fire, Gravity, Time, Entropy, and Death duos. The skeleton for one rainbow would really help.
I think a couple of these decks could use small changes, however (I've played with most of the decks on this list). Well, I'll get to that later.

As for now, how about we add in the 6 most voted on decks from each duo (204 cards, I think). Add the rainbow skeleton and we get 230 cards. This leaves 223 cards. We could make a couple copies of our strongest decks and then add in some counterdeck cards from each of our duos? Sound good? I'll be in the chat.
