Darkness is all about stealing. It steals HP, it steals permanents, and it steals quanta. Now, it can even steal SPELLS! :o

NAME:
Warlock's Orb
ELEMENT:
Darkness
COST:
5 :darkness
TYPE:
Permanent
ATT/HP:
-
ABILITY:
When your opponent plays a spell, it has a 50% chance to be negated. If that happens, this ability is replaced by an ability identical to that spell, but costing Darkness. This card is destroyed after 1 use.
.
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
Hypothetical situation:
Your opponent plays Nova; did not trigger effect.
Your opponent plays Miracle, effect triggered. Miracle was negated, and Warlock's Orb gains an ability called Miracle for 12 :darkness.
You use Miracle. Warlock's Orb is destroyed.

I wouldn't have it steal.  Spell stealing becomes rather 'gay' for lack of other words.  It is understandable stealing permanents/quanta as they are widely used.  Spells are more situational/unique to an element for a reason.

My Suggestion
Warlock's Orb--2 :darkness
Ability One (Passive): Negate your opponents next spell, warlock's Orb is destroyed in the process.
Ability Two (Active): Sacrifice:  Gain 3 (5 uppd)  :darkness

It makes the card less situational.  If you really need quanta, sacrifice it... otherwise it nullifies the opponents next spell.

The entire point of this card was to "steal" a spell. I made this card to fit Darkness's theme of using your opponent's strength against him/her. Darkness can steal anything ;)

But this card is not OP, is it?

BTW, the 50% thing is there so that people would not just bait the effect with weak spells, then play the strong spells without fear. If it's 100% instead of 50%, you would use something to trigger the effect first, then play your Miracle.

It has the HUGE possibility of becoming overpowered in certain situations.  Spell stealing Miracle/Fractal is pretty imba.
(I'm pretty much against RNG in card games, screw the 50%)

Darkness is known for other things aside from stealing.
-Veil(Cover) of Darkness
-The Abyss
-Insanity
Are just a few examples of dark themes.  This card could even be renamed "Orb of the Abyss"... Besides, when have warlocks (or their orbs) been known to steal?  They've been known to siphon life.

hypothetical situation shows:

If you steal all their spell and never use it, your orb never break and you steal another?

OP, especially you can have 6 of them out.
So the max probabily will be 1-(0.5^6) = 98.4375% to steal a spell, and endless until you decide to use it......

Not endless, when the Orb steals the spell it can't steal another one because the ability of the Orb change to the spell.
I like the card.

@Acelink: In this game, Darkness is based on stealing your opponent's power. Drain Life and Vampire steals HP, Steal steals permanents, and Devourer steals quanta. I want to keep this theme consistent.

@Yaladilae: Kameda answered your question. One Orb can only steal one spell.

No, it doesn't work like that. Just like Gravity Pull, damage is not dealt to all six Armagios.

Remember, stealing is equivalent exchange. Your opponent only has 1 Miracle, so the Orbs only have 1 Miracle to steal.

However, if I have 6 Orbs on the field, you'd better not play a Miracle, because I have 98.4375% chance to steal it.

BTW, since we're talking about Miracle... It would cost 12 :darkness, but to avoid being complicated, it would still drain all :light.

And to answer Acelink's question:
A warlock is a black magician. I wanted some sort of dark magician's orb as the name of this card. So, Warlock's Orb it is.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

I like this card and I don't believe that it is too overpowered.  It fits very nicely with the Darkness theme.

Remember, that if this card is implemented, it would be along with some other stuff for the other elements to help balance it out.

I love the idea of stealing a spell and an orb fits perfectly into that theme.

That's all I have to say for now because I need sleep. :)

No, it doesn't work like that. Just like Gravity Pull, damage is not dealt to all six Armagios.
The Damage is not dealt to multiple Armagios because the Gravity pull effect can only be on one creature at the one time. Sequential Armagios cannot be setup.

Remember, stealing is equivalent exchange. Your opponent only has 1 Miracle, so the Orbs only have 1 Miracle to steal.

However, if I have 6 Orbs on the field, you'd better not play a Miracle, because I have 98.4375% chance to steal it.
By this I assume that you mean, if more than 1 of this card is in play, that they all act Sequentialy?

BTW, since we're talking about Miracle... It would cost 12 :darkness, but to avoid being complicated, it would still drain all :light.

And to answer Acelink's question:

There is dislike to cards that directly deny cards or cause a loss of cards that they need just to play. This card can potentially lock out any Supernova, Nova, Immolation, Miracle, Quintessence the player needs to just play. Do you think there will be a bad feeling among players and reduce interest in the game if this card was in the game burning people?

When does the negation trigger occur, Before costs, After costs, After Additional Costs?
