New Version,  hope that I don't need to make it again

Of course one of the reasons I remade this card was that I wanted to change the graphic. Now the image looks more "Aether", right ?

Absorb :aether per rift to maintain :

If you leave a vortex in water, the vortex will eventually disappear. So does the vortex( or a rift ) in dimensions, it needs external energy source to maintain itself.
If you can't give it enough quanta, it will just collapse (i.e. destroy itself)

Opening The Rift :

The rift will be indicated by a light-blue square. This card generates a new rift on random position of opponent's field every turn. (All old rifts will remain)

If a rift appears "below" a creature, the creature will be thrown to unknown dimensions(i.e.killed)

Any new creature will be spawned next to the rift. The original creature-slot will be occupied by the rift until the rift disappears

Closing the Rifts:

All rifts will close if the permanent is destroyed. Rifts created by two separate cards are independent but cannot overlap with each other.

This card will be destroyed if it cannot draw enough quantum to sustain all those rifts

Very powerful. Since it is stackable, in a bunch of turn more of them can easily blok the opponent

So what should I do?

Raise the cost ?

Or make them unstackable ? (e.g. opening a rift by one card on an "existing rift created by another card" will close the rift instead )

How about absorb 1 :aether per X amount of active rifts? After all, the more rifts there are, the more you need to sustain them.

Good point, just remade the card

though it may need insanely large amount of  :aether to be truly destructive. Its effectiveness will surely increase exponentially as long as you have enough  :aether

Problem: Nobody would ever stuff 23 aether towers in one deck. Thus, this is sure to drain all of your aether quanta. Try 'drain :aether :aether| :aether per X rifts in play, X being the number of rifts you have in play divided by 2 or 3 or 4 or something.'

Edit: I see that the description would not fit if you implemented that. Hmm...

Impossible to pay 1 for rift, noone could produce 20 :aether in a turn.. Instead you could allow other rifts to open the same place, making it redudant and losing more time to affect the entire board

Thanks for all the suggestion. Make a new card and the opening of rift becomes an active skill. Constant absorption of quanta remains as an important feature. Now player will have better control over power of tearing dimensions

So it's basically a kind of flooding? And costs a lot more mana?

Except  there's no escape from the rifts as they can open everywhere and they won't affect yourself

Which means this card may have more synergies with other elements

Now the cost is too low I fear.

I thought the finite duration (aka the absorb cost growing beyond ability to be paid) was a good way to balance the potential of the card.

But how much absorption is enough ? one quantum per rift ?
