Hello and Goodbye section https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=3554.msg31696#msg31696

I've seen this in other forums ( www.aeonsguild.com for example), and thought that we could use one here. It would allow new members to post about themselves and give an introduction and ask any newby questions they might have. This would allow for a quick and welcoming greeting by other members.

Additionally, the section could hold farewell threads, when a member (usually one that's been around a while) leaves the community (either for good, or for a long while). Many friendships have been forged on here, and being able to say and recieve farewells would be a welcoming sight to our Elements veterans.

I've always liked these in previous forums I've been in. I definitely approve and support :D

I like this idea as well, allows New Members access to the community and the old users info on the new ones. Also can go hand in hand with Rules for posting etc...

Some kind of "Hello" thread could work. There's this one plugin that automatically starts a thread every time a new member joins. We could use that.

But I'm not a big fan of "Goodbye" threads because they will easily become e-suicide threads with game bashing and flaming. Only way a goodbye thread would work if I made it so that only veteran members could post there. Hm.. that could actually work.

Maybe goodbye posts are only available for Sr Members and above or something like that.

Just an idea.

Yes, I felt like there was something missing here xD

Both threads (Yeah, I wouldn't go as far as making whole subforums for this) would be interesting.
Even goodbyes would be useful: That last feedback could finally reach the proper eardrums

Only one thing: I've seen in another forums that you have to wait a week to be able to post something on the board.
As a week seems like too much time to me, and linking ingame data (Score, for example) to the forums could be awkward, we could have the game spell a secret password when the player reaches an important milestone), a password that would give the user the ability to post in all the regular areas. Of course, there should be an area where everyone can interact, cry for help or post uncontrollably random ideas until they get banned  :))

This should filter both bots and assorted low moral fiber beings.

This makes me wonder, where the heck is Chriskang? In chat SG and others said he got hit by a bus then eaten by a raptor.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

I've been wondering that too. Rumor is that he got stung by a rather poisonous jellyfish... ::)

Ouch...stop stinging me....

Omnimatrix i think the answer is with the forum post levels myself. As you advance you get different grades that unlock thinkgs (like avatars) this way you could limit sections to those people only.

Ouch...again??

Post count is a measure of how much time the user spent sharing with the forum community and not an indication of ingame experience.
Hardcore gamers of few words would be unable to contribute with actual ingame insight.

Don't know, maybe I got all of this upside down XD

That's a valid point, but to be frank, if they weren't a part of the community then, why should we care about what they have to say now? There are a lot of hardcore gamers that play Elements and are solid members of our community. There's a reason certain people are looked to for advice, and it is because of their involvement in the forum community. Their Elements score only serves to solidify credibility.
