First of all, I would like to thank Robotocracy for being such a fine sport and representing his team well. We had a little bit of trouble originally connecting in a few games and 1 desync midgame that we replayed. Game 1 and 2 was like full silence, but then we actually started conversing with each other and enjoying the match for what it was.
Obviously, I was very nervous with playing such a small stall first of all and secondly, with unupped CPs (that I'm not the biggest fan of) expected to serve as single target CC. They are just so random....you never know what you're going to get. However, we did realize that pandemonium on the other hand could have resulted in multiple RTs which could have compromised my already small stall. So enough chatter about that, here's the game breakdowns.
Game 1: Saw water mark right away. So what goes with air and water so well....I was like oh ok Toadfish. Then he gets to his second turn or so and he starts dropping Dragonflies and I'm like ok.....Dragonflies and Toadfish, I'll just heal through the Dragonflies and AM the Toadfish, right? We keep progressing through the game and I'm not seeing a single upped card. I start getting nervous because I'm like what does he have upped? He's doing a good job of killing his Toadfish as they get AMd with infections and Owl's Eye. Eventually, an Eagle's Eye came out so I was glad to see one up. However, he's still holding a bunch of cards in his hand so idk what's about to hit. All of the sudden he drops the Sky Dragon and the Elite Wyrm for a burst at the end (the other 2 ups). Luckily, I had a miracle in hand and 1 AM as well I was saving for who knows what. I threw that on the Dragon to try to save my ass. If he had sky blitz right there I would have been a goner because toadfish had been wittling me down slowly for turns because I didn't have many sancs. The next couple of turns I'm getting beat on by an Elite Wyrm. I only had 3 sancs and an empty hand.....drawing quanta for a couple turns. I draw another miracle to buy me some more time. It was enough because I finally started drawing AMs to seal the match. AMs were not just good for healing, they were making his damage disappear which I greatly needed at the time.
Game 2: Tough draws on my behalf.....I just wasn't getting the cards I needed. I was slowly accumulating sancs as he was loading the field with creatures (and by slowly I mean I think I got 2 by the time he finished me off). I think I only used like 1 or 2 AMs because I had to with Toads just tearing right through me. Finally, he dropped dragon and wyrm and I had nothing to counter so he took it home while I was struggling to draw.
Game 3 (The First Time): I was so excited I top-decked sancs like a boss and the game is just rolling along my way. At this point, I know what I need to save AMs for, but I still haven't a clue what he keeps saving in his hand. Midway through the game he desyncs. Something about windows crashing. Just being cautious I screenshot everything. However, AI unloaded hand and let me breathe because he's just holding wings and purifies. Anyway, since it was midgame (even though I was surely to win given the matchup, but it's not exactly cut and dry clear), we did a rematch because it's the right thing to do.
Game 3 (The Second Time): Once again, I knew what I needed to do and I just executed it as it needed to be done.
Game 4: I top-decked all my AMs within the first couple turns, but I didn't have much for quanta generation or even sancs for that matter. However, I just kept slowly applying AMs where they needed to go and midway through the game I drew like 5 sancs in a row
So that's that.....sorry for the long description. I guess I felt like it was a much closer match than it probably looks like on paper. Once again, thanks to Robotocracy and Team Air. Good luck to you guys in the rest war.
ENTROPONIES UNITE!!!!
