This is a rework of a very old idea of mine (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20265.msg274925#msg274925).
I always thought that Pendulums were ok but didn't answer to all quanta needs.
This is a different type of pillar, made for giving the right quanta when you need it, but at the cost of time.

In-depth explanation:
Pillars|Towers produce specific quanta, while Makers|Factories only produce mark quanta.
Like all permanents, ability can't be used the turn it comes into play.
When you use the ability, you delay the Maker|Factory for 2 turns. Delayed permanents don't produce quanta and can't use abilities. Since the quanta production happens at the end of turn, if you get the specific quanta you will not receive the mark quanta. It's specific quanta vs mark quanta, you can't get both.
You can activate a Maker|Factory to get an extra quanta when you can't play a card (effective against denial or as a last resort), since this quanta generation happens in midgame (like Rustler, for example) but this will cost you 2 turns of missing quanta.

About implementation:
It would be a little strange to manage stacks and delay, it would be best to keep these as separated permanents.
The alternative would be keeping a single stack that automatically keeps track of how many are delayed and how many factories could be activated. This solution would be hard to code (i think) but simple to play. This is Zanzarino's field, of course!

These are intended to be a serie, one Maker|Factory for each element.
All the cards should have the identical mechanic, producing quantum matching your mark and letting you gain specific quanta for a 2 turns delay.
Names are from gems and minerals, some matches pillars names.

Some use cases:
  • Mono :air deck that wants to use unstable gases. This deck only needs 6 :fire quanta.
    Using a :fire mark will result in a waste of quanta after round 6. Pendulums and Novas are even worse when it comes to wasted quanta!
    Using a Ruby Maker will allow the player to gain :fire quanta when needed, at the cost of 2 :air, paid in the next 2 turns. If the player can afford to keep the unstable gases untouched until the final blow, he can gain 6 :fire without paying anything extra. With Ruby Factory there isn't even the need to activate the ability (and the delay), since the :fire is gained when the card is played.
  • Mono :entropy deck that wants to use Lycanthropy.
  • Mono :earth deck that evolves Graboids.
  • In general, decks that needs only a little splash of another element without damaging deck stability.
  • You've got only 8 :aether and you need another :aether to cast Fractal and deliver the final blow.
    Simply activate your Turquoise Maker, gain :aether and deliver PWNING!

I'm sorry, i didn't understand well what are you saying here.  :-[

I will read the discussion on Temples soon, now i'm at work and i can't!
However, i already knew the Temples, and i feel that Maker|Factory answers to a different quanta need.
It's more oriented to a mono deck who needs a very little splash of quanta without (almost) losing speed.
Temples are like pillars since they produce specific quanta. They also have an ability, so they must cost a little more than the standard pillar.
Maker|Factory is less than pillar, since it doesn't produce specific quanta. So i can add the ability without changing the cost of the card.
It's ability is paid in the future, so there is a gain now and a "loss" in the next 2 turns.

I honestly think it is, but i want to be sure that i'm not missing anything.
I may also be biased, so i'd like to have your opinion.

I was also thinking about specifying that the ability can be used when it comes into play (would add it into notes).

I do believe it is balanced. Depending on the multielement deck, people will use Pendulum, Factories or Both.

Once this gets to the forge, you might want to add a gif image cycling through the 12 variants for increased forge clarity. For now, since it is in the Crucible, the Entropy variant should get dominant position.
