I tried to simply search for 'steam engine adrenaline' in the Steam Engine thread (using the search bar in the upper right, set to 'this thread'), and I got an 'you are not allowed to search in this thread' error.

Is that fixable?

I have this too. Ugh. This is no fun.

Temporary workaround (if you didn't know it already): Go to Google (http://www.google.com/), and in the search box, type whatever you wanted to search for. Then, add a space and paste

:site:http://elementscommunity.org/forum/at the end. It just tells Google to search this forum specifically. Unfortunately, specifying a specific thread, or even a specific subforum, doesn't work.

So if you were Essence and wanted to search "steam machine adrenaline", you'd enter "steam machine adrenaline :site:http://elementscommunity.org/forum/" into the search box.

Search is temporary disabled for maintenance, and will take a few hours because of the huge pile of topics and posts we have. I will enable it after maintenance is over.

Meanwhile you can do what YawnChainHow suggested, or pick "Google" from the forum search drop-down menu.
