Duel 1: I got my only lightning and promptly zapped his early GotP. That hurt him. He EQed my foolish 2 emerald pillars which slowed me down a lot. He put up a titanium shield which slowed me down further. In the end though, I just kept picking away at him and popped a dim shield to skirt by.

Duel 2: I got a better draw, 2 emerald pillars, 2 life pends, and pulled an aether pillar off the top. I play 1 of each and saved the extra. I played my frog and just waited for fractal quanta. He got a lot of creatures out, but with my phase shield he was locked out. I fractaled and that was pretty much it.

Upped frogs saved the day - if I had played this deck unupped, I dont think 4|4 cockatrice would have cut it.

GG Phaedrus i think you had a tough match without pc and with only 3 EQ and 3 RT max. Hard to rely on that especially with my anti earthquake 3 pillar/pend setup.

Oh and thank god I won because of that point business. Sorry Phaedrus, the upped cards won me the match but that is way i was given point position.

Here is the deck I played. Wasn't exactly what we wanted to use due to a couple vault errors, but no excuses.
It was a great deck choice by life and I had figured wize would likely be point so it wasn't going to be easy.

Reverse time, eq and titanium vs upped frogs with a diverse pillar setup was definitely less than ideal.

Round 1: Was hopeful with early eq and GoTP with a weak pillar start for wize. RT'd his early frogs and it took him a while to recover. Recover he did, however, and chipped away through my titanium for the win.

Round 2: His pillars showed up and there was no hope for EQ/RT. My only hope was to rush before he can get a dim shield out. There is a chance of that for a good while as my creatures come in pretty good fashion. Dim shield showed up and it was all over.

We've got lots of work cut out for us yet UW.

I get that wizel is the general, but sending a point against an unknown team? Confident.

Sending you as point was a ballzy move. and luck was with you.
an unforeseen deck and we paid the price

I think the games should have been closer than they played out to be as by turn 5 or so Wiz had 2-3 upped frogs and 1-2 dim shields, drawing those couple of cards that early really played their part. I think phaedrus had some 30~40 damage out.

Great playing by both players.

Generals seem to stand out hard against  :underworld Underworld. A nice thing to see.

Good Games there.

It is lucky UW didn't do a complete intel on everyone.
RT and EQ against life with its small creatures? Why?

RT can be good vs. mitosis/adrenaline, earth for the titanium, EQs just fit well because of the card limitations and balance.
And they could be useful in some scenarios in a matchup vs. life.

Its not like we were able to built 8 perfect counters because we weren't sure who we were going to play.
Intel is only useful to an extent.
Vault flexibility is just as (if not more) important.

you cant make a counter to every deck 12 teams have :P and you pretty much finalize the decks before we know who we play.
