Member roles explained in detail

Deckbuilding Phase
During the deckbuilding phase, a lot of things are happening at once. It is basically divided into two parts, both of which happen simultaneously:

1. Salvaging, Discarding, and Penalties (previous round)
2. Strategy, Deckbuilding and Converting (this round)

Salvager
Start a topic titled "Round 1 - Salvaging, Discarding, Penalties and Converting". Use that exact name (round number of course changes). Use the following template: (DO NOT ADD SPOILERS)

This topic will contain all the Salvaging, Discarding and Penalties earned in the round of the title and the Converting done for the next round of decks.
So the round 1 topic will be created during the round 2 deckbuilding after the round 1 duels have been resolved.

Code: [Select]
Round 1 - Salvaging, Discarding, Penalties and Converting

Salvaging
1 x Card name
2 x Card name
3 x Card name

Discarding
1 x Card name
2 x Card name
3 x Card name

Penalties
1 x Card name
2 x Card name
3 x Card name

Converting
1 x Card name
2 x Card name
3 x Card name
Lead the discussion as your team decides what to salvage, discard, discard as a penalty and convert. When you are done, edit the first post accordingly.

Strategist
Start a topic titled "Round 2 - Strategy". Use that exact name (round number of course changes). In that topic, list all the duels your team has during that round, and start a discussion about the opponents your team has to face during this round. Strategist is basically a "spy" that gathers intel of the opponents, mostly what kind of decks you are likely to encounter. The role of the Strategist becomes more important as we go to later rounds because then you have more information about the cards and strategies of your opponents.

Deckbuilder
Start a topic titled "Round 2 - Decks". Use that exact name (round number of course changes). Use the following template: (DO NOT ADD SPOILERS)

Code: [Select]

Replace "player #" with correct names. Important: Deckbuilder is not responsible for building all the 8 decks by him or herself. Deckbuilder only leads the discussion and edits the first post as decks get finalized. When building the decks, teams should take into consideration the data posted in the "Round 2 - Strategy" topic.

Vault Organizer
Make sure that your team Vault is up to date before the round clock goes to zero. This means making the necessary edits according to "Round 1 - Salvaging, Discarding, Penalties and Converting" topic. After editing the Vault, post in the Vault topic, saying something like this:
Quote
Round 1 editing done.
Make sure that the total amount of cards in the Vault matches with the  number in War standings topic. If the numbers don't match, you probably made a mistake. If you cannot find the mistake, contact Warmasters who will help you.

Lieutenant
Join the discussion and observe what is happening. If it looks like one or more team members is not performing his or her duties, you need to immediately step in. For example if the team Deckbuilder, for one reason or another, is not starting the "Round 2 - Decks" topic, it's your job to do so.

General
Your job is to make sure that others are doing their job. You should also play an active part in the discussion and communicate with Warmasters if needed.

Duel Phase
Duel phase consists of fighting the duels with the decks built during the previous phase.

Duel Organizer
You are in charge of all team duels happening during a round. If it's starting too look like one or more team members are unable to fight their duels, you need to inform the team General.

General
Using the information given to you by the Duel Organizer, make sure that all duels happen during a round.

Looks fine to me. Although I could use some clarification on the "2 x card"/"3 x card"- my first thought was that it might be some kind of list format, that skipped 1.

I unskipped 1.

Thanks.

Although it (probably) makes it much easier for the organisers, I liked the system where the teams could orgainise themselves, and go the extra mile if they chose.
In my eyes it made the whole team picking and responsibilty more important.

It's like in the trials: Masters who made the extra effort to study their opponents card preferences, old decks used, prepare and test many different decks eventually won, and their work really impressed us spectators.

I suppose there are benefits both ways, but as of now, I think I preferred the old system.

The problem with the old system was that with many teams, there was no system. People posted almost randomly and nobody knew what was going on. Not only did it make my life a living hell, it also made the teams function very poorly and take tons of penalties.

Not everyone has organizational skills. If that person happens to be the General, and there are no predetermined member roles, the team is guaranteed to crash and burn. Evidence of that can easily be seen in War #1 archive.

With this new system, teams are given basic tools on how to organize everything. Like I said, they are still allowed to post their own secret tactics using their own secret methods, so this system does not prevent teams from doing something. It only acts as a kind of "safe net" to ensure that everything that needs to happen, will happen.

What you suggest is to not help teams so that they are forced to do everything by themselves. I don't think that it's the right way to go. We shouldn't make things more complicated on purpose just so that teams with better organizational skills can shine, while others lose by default.

The system I posted is just the framework. We are not helping the teams to win their duels. That's still something they need to do all by themselves. We are only helping teams to organize everything more smoothly, while at the same time helping the Warmasters to run the event.

Glad to know that team Light is right on track with using a similar method. However, I do have a few questions.

Salvager

1. I would prefer to use deck code/image rather than writting each cards one by one. Could we use that? Or if you insist, could we have the deck code/image in a spoiler at least?

2. Specifically for "Round 1 - Salvaging, Discarding, Penalties and Converting", am I right to assume that there is no salvaging and discarding in Round 1? i.e. - a team could possibly use this topic only for converting and/or penalties (if any).

3. If in a particular round a team decides to only salvage and discard, is it necessary (or compulsory) to change the topic tittle to "Round 2 - Salvaging and Discarding"?

As a side note; in your first paragraph, you spelt the word simultaneously wrongly. :)

looks good for me.

just to get sure: are we allowed to add comments, notes on the deckbuilding post during the deckbuilding phase (and changing it back to the proper form before the building phase ends)?

and i dont mind to list each card below (or on top) a deck code, if this would make it easyer for the warmasters.

That's their personal problem. Same if they couldn't play PVP effectively.
War is about organizing and planning as much as dueling itself. Organizing is a skill (much like dueling) that affects the final outcome.

Making your life a living hell is, of course, another matter :) no team should do that (I cannot even begin to imagine how much work do you have with organizing this War and other stuff).

1. Sure. But please put them all in that one deck, rather than building a separate deck for each deck your are going to salvage/discard from. So one deck code for each of the 4 sections.

2. There is no salvaging, discarding or penalties during round 1 so that topic would only contain converting (if there is any). "Round 2 - Salvaging, Discarding, Penalties and Converting" will have all four.

3. No need to change the title. But you can use the "Round 2 - Salvaging and Discarding" too.

just to get sure: are we allowed to add comments, notes on the deckbuilding post during the deckbuilding phase (and changing it back to the proper form before the building phase ends)?
You can do whatever you want with the topics, whenever you want. Only thing that matters is that the topics are ready when we start Duel phase.

Yes, that is true to some extent, but I'd like this event to be more about the duels than organizational skills.

so there are no rules or restrictions (within reason) that applies to the rookie?
Rookies have no special duties. They just participate in the discussions and planning.
