Tea Time with Giants: Laxadarap!
Below is a portion of the interview: Q: Laxadarap? What kind of name is that? A: he one that started all of the derpiness I am known for. I make a different name for literally every game I play, and for some reason, I chose Paradoxical, and wanted to spell it backwards, but derped, and ended up spelling it "paradoxal". Reversed that is Laxodarap, and I switched out the "o" and the "a", and Laxadarap was born.
Q: When did you start playing EtG? What was the most grabbing feature [what was the hook]? A: Had a friend years ago that introduced me to it. Was march of 2010, or atleast thats what my kong badges show me. Got bored and left. Got bored again around august of 2011 and came back and actually started playing (got my 10 pvp wins and such), then found the forums. As to why I like it? I just like the fact that you don't build a play all, win all deck. It makes pvp about mindgames, not the perfect deck.
Q: You're a PvP Event Manager; Do you have anything planned to spice up PvP Events? A: I am planning on running events based on the community. I already let the community choose the last event, King of the Hill, I ask for their input on rules, extensions, and all that good stuff. I could dictate everything, but I feel like people will have more fun in an event that they partially designed.

Deck Idea of the Month Psiontal by Team Aether of war 6This deck review was written by Deck Helpers, Calindu and inthisroom.Hover over cards for details, click for permalink 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 622 622 622 622 625 625 625 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 80l 80l 80l 8pu The deck presented this month was the killer of war 6, made by team aether and ended with 12 wins. It is strong, versatile and it's hard to counter it, exactly what's needed in war.
Card by card:
- Fractal: The card that makes this deck so good, it's used to quickly ramp up more damage.
- Psion: The creature that's used to deal damage, it has a pseudo-momentum against the shields that are mostly used in war.
- Dimensional Shield: We all know why this card is used, and we all know its power, it's the defensive card in this deck, 3 turns of stalling, works great early as you usually fractal when you have 7 quanta sources(2 psions/turn).
Strategy:
This deck is easy to be played, a little bit harder to be played than the classic mono aether but you have more attack power. Stall with Dimensional Shields while getting the quanta sources you need, after you get all the cards you need do Psion+Fractal, it's best to do it when you have a fresh/1 turn old Dim Shield up so you can rack up more damage before you need another shield. Against people that may have PC cards you want to play your Dimensional Shields earlier, leave yourself hp to take 2 PC cards, and if you know they have CC cards, keep 1 Psion in hand.
Strengths:
A generally very fast deck that avoids most of the classic shields except for reflecting shields (Emerald Shield/ Reflective Shield), the Dims Shields are als very hard to overcome for any opponent without PC or Momentum. Even though Fractal consumes all the Aether Quanta, the fact that it's a mono makes it quite reliable.
Weaknesses:
- Reflective shields, obviously.
- Lobotomiser/Mind Flayer combined with shields can stall this deck for a while.
- Quanta Denial: This deck needs a lot of quanta to work, a single EQ can slow them down a couple of turns.
- PC and momentum: It destroys all this deck has to defend with.
Card variants:
- Lightnings: A good alternative instead of Dimensional Shields, especially if you expect PC cards, it usually kills most good damage dealers and doesn't need a lot of quanta to be played, so it actually helps the deck's overall speed.
- Lobotomizer: It's usually paired with Dimensional Shields, very good at taking Momentum, bad abilities that may slow you down but it's also an anti-counter for reflective shield.
- Phase Recluses: A fractal target alternative if you suspect a reflective shield, it makes the deck faster too.
- Silence: A cool and situational card, can be versatile in this deck, silence combined with dimensional shield makes a 1 turn free of damage in case of PC(Deflagration, Steal), but can also be used against cards like CC, Miracle, or to prevent some more damage in case you need to survive 1 turn.

This month's idea is brought to you by Elbirn.
To be frank, there is not much to say about this idea. It is very simple, really.
It stops creature abilities.
And passives.
I mean, I would like to go in depth, but there is really so much that such a simple card can do by simply stopping creature abilities. Even for one turn, it is a lot more effective than killing or removing the abilities of creatures depending on the number and costs. Also, it gives you the ever so important moment to play something so it has a chance to stay alive a turn in spite of Otyughs and Maxwell's Demons.
And it fits Aether rather nicely. With Lobotomy being one of Aether skills, it isn't a far off to have such a widespread and temporary Lobotomize in a spell forme like this.
But what is notable, at least to me, is the secondary bit. The part where it puts a pause on passives. That means things like Voodoo, Devourer, and Airborned are all on hold for a turn, letting the opponent run around without a care in the world of their quanta being stolen or damage being redirected all around.
Duo Possibilities [ | ] - What is one of the most common passives? Airborne. And despite running only airborne creatures, save for its nymph, Air probably has the most to benefit from it with the use of Wings. Rather than going out of element to go for Web or to waste CC on stuff, this allows for a turn of absolute protection from everything but ranged damage.
[ | ] - Hm, another passive? Poisonous. And possibly one of the bigger issues when it comes to devouring creatures with Otyugh, who would prefer that he did not get poisoned for the tiny morsels he ends up consuming. Along that, this would also cancel Salvage, letting Pulverizer get by just in case a Salvager is out and about.
[ | ] - Like with the Pulverizer thing, Psychic Pulse will be able to null Salvage, letting you to cast Explosion on things. And being with Fire being a host to an array of things that would prefer to not get bothered by the damage of control, there aren't exactly a lot of Fire cards that rely on their abilities, letting you to bunch through with your Dragons and Phoenixes if one were to currently swing with anything.
Many thanks go out to inthisroom, Drake_XIV, and Calindu for all of their work on this newsletter. There wouldn't be nearly as many fun things to read about.
