Crafting - Breeding

Breeding is a crafting skill of :life element. It means the ability to craft rare creature cards by combining two non-rare cards from different elements.

I think it involves all creatures that are marked "rare" for WoE (not just actual rare creatures in the game).

Ooooh.  Because I was looking at the rare creature list, and all 0 of them that I would use in a life deck, and I was kind of underwhelmed.

Alright, cool.

Well, looking at each element, we should avoid making strong mono cards rares, and instead make them cards worth earning, but at the same time, cards that aren't vital.  For instance, graboid is a great pick.  At the start of the game, when earth doesn't have extra marks or off-element cards, they wouldn't be able to use graboids effectively.

But at the same time, this looks completely unfair for life.  Looking at War #2, graboid rainbows are one of the most effective decks in the game, and I worry about the advantage this gives life.  Still... if I had to pick...

 :aether Spark + Phase Dragon = Immortal?
 :air Azure Dragon + Firefly = Firefly queen
 :darkness Devourer + Vampire = Parasite
 :death Virus + Flesh Spider = Deathstalker
 :earth Shrieker + Antlion = Graboid
 :entropy Abomination + Maxwell's Demon = Fallen Elf
 :fire Fire Spirit + Phoenix (Ash) = Lava Golem
 :gravity Graviton Mercenary + Otyugh = Graviton Fire Eater
 :life Life Dragon + Forest Spirt = Leaf Dragon
 :light Golden Dragon + Guardian Angel = Pegasus
 :time Scarab + Anubis = Pharaoh
 :water Toadfish + Arctic Squid = Chrysaora

I tried to pick powerful cards, but at the same time, cards elements won't want until the reach higher levels anyway.

I would go with the most popular/best cards no matter how "vital" they are for that element. Reason for this is simple: supply and demand.

If something is great, people want it, and it becomes rare. If something sucks, people don't want it, and it becomes common.

Yes, you can pick any skills from any of the 13 skill trees. Only requirement is that if you take skills from a higher tier, you need to already have those two specific (not just any two) skills from the previous tier.

Also when you start the game, you need to pick skills from your own element.

And finally, to train a skill of different element, you need to travel to a city/town of that element. Each city has a trainer that trains only one skill tree.

Must the two come from the same element? I imagine Lycanthropes to be quite popular, and they might come from Abomination + Darkness Creature (Minor Vampire?).

Other suggestions:
Skeleton + any Dragon => Bone Dragon
Deathstalker + Forest Spirit => Forest Scorpion
Ash Eater + Wyrm => Phoenix
Flesh Spider + Phase Dragon => Phase Spider

These are based on popularity but especially on fitting well together.

Does it have to be just creatures or can we throw in spells too (like altering their genetics)?  Here are some ideas on what I think is the most popular/useful non-Dragon creature in each element plus how to make them.

to avoid controversy in the early stages lets just stick this out there right now:
:aether Mindgate + Spark (i'm thinking relic would be better though) = Fractal

This would make that overly-controversial card way harder to obtain and subsequently resulting in motivation for both new ideas in deck building and achieving XP/gaining skills.
