Those bids wore neither editing or removing it was just a  mistype/mistake. I also think entropy should receive their 10 cards, I know it's a problem if you start to bend the rules but dude this is only played for fun and being to strict is just boring.

If they are strict with a team, they should be strict with everyone, not only my team, they went pretty lenient with the rules and that propaganda you posted also gave your team 10 cards, while I posted a nice propaganda a little bit late and received nothing. I decided to remove the propaganda instead.

Hard times for WMs...

On one hand, enforcing the rules in a community event like this is crucial. Any lack of discipline just promotes more rule-ignoring. Did entropy submit late? Yes. Do the rules make it clear what happens to teams that submit late? Yes.

Moreover, I've seen several cases of small bending/ignoring/overlooking of the rules by the WMs and it mostly causes drama. Of course, not doing so may also cause drama, but at least sticking to the rules gives the WMs a firm code to rely upon. So I guess they should just stick to the rules most times.

On the other hand, some of the rules are stupid. Like the rule that gives 10 bonus cards for propaganda (what is mostly a drag to warteams) then accepts some low level submissions as valid ones. Some submissions are a work of 5 minutes of googling and PSing; some have more effort put into them; but IMO neither of them are on the same level as oldtime propaganda stuff.

So we have a rule that is obviously not very good, but at least it is a rule, written clearly and known to everyone.
What does a WM do in a situation like this? Disregard the rule for the sake of common sense or enforce it for the sake of disclipline?

There are times to be strict, and there are times to be lenient.

We were lenient in our requirements for Propaganda, and time frame given to create it (ended up being over a month, minus forum downtime). In Wars past there have been arguments over what qualifies as a Propaganda Speech, and there was also the whole issue of propaganda being a popularity and/or Brawl-esque contest for cards, when this event isn't about that.

Deadlines should almost always be handled strictly. In this case, a deadline is a arbitrary point, that we've decided something should be finished by. If we allow a submission that's 20 minutes late, it begs the question of why we didn't give an extra 20 minutes in the first place.

All that said, the amount time needed to competently make a propaganda topic is about two minutes. Considering there was the entire length of the auction (17+ days), plus six days during Vaultbuilding, there is no excuse for not having a topic posted.

The round-1 thread has numbered assignments instead of specific names allowing the teams to decide who to send against which opponent. Helston wrote that this is only for this round, because the team role assignments were not requested from Generals until the last minutes.

My understanding is that the motivation for specific name vs name assignment is to allow more time to setup the matches for the pair. However, the ability for the team to decide who fights against which element has its own advantages, such as considering card availability of specific players (important for new players with far from complete card-set) and also the extra upgrades of Lt. can be directed strategically.

I would like to propose a compromise solution, which would offer the benefits of both of the above solutions:

  • When a new round thread is created, use only team numbering, no specific player names
  • Give Generals a 24 hour period to decide assignment of names and Lt. role
  • After the 24 hour deadline, update the matchup table in the round thread

This method still gives several days of extra time for the battles to be arranged between the players, but teams and Generals retain the advantage to be able to assign specific players to go against the given opponent elements.

I'm pretty sure you was referring to  :earth so just to clarify. When I saw how ambitious some teams wore I thought there would be some kind of voting and that the with most votes would gain 10 cards. I thought that since so many wore so ambitious with their propaganda I do something original and make is simple and clear and in that way gain votes. However that wasn't the case and without the voting I can see that my post can be seen as lame or even ignorant, and I agree to that and I'm sorry for that.

So when this is clarified, I would like to suggest to add a voting into the propaganda and let the X teams with most votes gain X cards.

Propaganda with voting sucks like no tommorow. It's the bane of existence with silly "voting for element and not propaganda", vote gathering, ect ect.
