I'm choosing to remain neutral for most of this, because I really don't care, because both WMs and participants have enough crap to handle and I don't want to add to it, and honestly, because this thread's drama is great watching on the sidelines with popcorn :3

But as an ex WM, and current TO, there's one thing I feel the need to address.

This rule change, regardless of my opinions on whether it's right or not, should not have been made at this time, because it was made in the middle of what it affects. Changes, especially large ones like this, like this need to be changed before their relevance, not during. And reasons for this include things Acsabi, Higs, majofa, and others have already touched, so I'm not going to restate them.

That said, as a former WM, I can also completely understood the line of logic the current WMs followed in making this decision. While I still don't think it should have been done, it's their ballpark now, it's not a completely illogical decision, and I'm not going to sling around veiled judgement for it.

And most importantly, this is an event for a game, and so it should be, at it's core, fun and enjoyable. I'd like to recommend the community just let this play out its course and try to act as if this drama didn't really happen, because in the end it doesn't matter too much. You still have a general, you still have respected members who may or may not end up on teams they don't prefer, you still have the possibilities of rules changing later, and so you still have War.

And War...that's what everyone in this discussion is here for, isn't it?

It has always been a terrible rule to allow masters assign someone else to play as general. This assignment of masters always had lame excuses, it is cowardly and egoistic. Each war this kept degrading both the event and master title. If you won't lead the war then don't be a master.

And now the wretchedness of both the rule change and how terrible the rule change has been done is truly mesmerising. This is promoting even more cowardice, spreading nihilism among the community and pissing people off to no end.

And what is with the "I'm the best life player. i do what i want trolololo" eric cartman attitude ? (And the spineless act of warmasters giving credit to this.)
So 3 people out of few hundred apply life trials, you win against one and conclude that winning such a trial proves that you are strongest life player in the community ? Is that for real ? There are loads of pvp'ers who perform very good in multiple elements, and some in all elements. It's just that they apply for other trials or they just don't join the trials because they don't want to lead. Coming here and bragging about being 'best' is just petty and making people angry. Let's just completely severe the ties between trials & war and make the trials something like a tourney where everyone who thinks they are kickass in that element can join, allowing one person being master of multiple elements. I wonder how you would do if 30 people joined life trials : )

Suggestion: If a master resigns from leading a war, he/she also resigns from being a master and gets banned from the event. He/she also is banned from next trials. Whoever played the final in the trials becomes the new master.

Sorry, Slowpoke. The drama is finished, the only relevant comment that might be yet to come is one from a Warmaster, stating the final ruling.

So warmasters decided to kick the evil masters out of war into the debths of the abyss.
The unavoidable nihilism that could potentially lead to mass hysteria and depression which would eventually cause suicides have been averted. good job.

any possibility to let marsu join as general for life? i mean, if rules can be revised, why not marsus descision to not be General?
obviously marsu didnt know about that rule and had the thought to let someone take the lead who has expierence with it. lletting him out gives him no expierence in war and so it makes no sense for his descision,  to join war as soldier and get expierence for next war.

I just counted 54 applications so far, which isn't enough for even 11 teams let alone 12. I know there are couple of days left still, but it maybe time to think about what will happen if there are not enough players to field 12 teams...
