CAn somebody tell me what happened? It seems like mostly darkness is complaining, but apparently gravy got a 30 card pen, so...

Nilsje went on vacation, rest of team didn't touch vault. Team Laxity did all the 3 days work in 1 hour or so. After deadline.

EDIT also, gravy was second before the penalty... how come they are not interested anymore...

it most certainly doesn't matter, but openly complaining, while the affected team hardly says a word, is at least odd. For a while I wasn't even sure about who got the penalty.

Oh, +rep for this. tho it's never winter in my country. The fact is most of us r on vacation/ couldn't be there. Well, that probably cost us this war but we shall bring  to the greatest height possible

I haven't commented on the decision yet, because the original suggestion was autolosses for all of our decks, which is way extreme, this pales in comparison to this.  And we do still care about War (or atleast I do), we just have some computer/internet problems, and very poor communication before the deadline.  As to the fairness of 30 cards, I could either have built a bunch of suicides, and lost more than the 30 cards, or I could wait, hold everybody up, and take a penalty.  Whether it was WM's ruling forfeits, or me fielding losses, 30 cards is still better than both of those penalties.  Also, I'm a bit over it as of now.

Darkness isn't complaning. I am disagreeing with a ruling. There is a serious difference.

30 cards is an extreme penalty. Everything was finished ~45 minutes after the deadline. Regardless of what was done before or after the deadline, this delayed the event by 45 minutes. This hardly even disrupts the event. The largest penalty that would make sense is a 12 card penalty for "seriously disrupting the whole event", and even 6 would make some sense (18 may be appropriate if you decide to treat each deck individually). 30 cards implies that Gravity did something that seriously screwed up War for an extended period of time. Gravity did neither.

Which would be 18 cards.

12 more for a major penalty.

Basically, this. While I would have no dispute with a ruling of 12 or 18 cards, and would probably find that more than fair, I feel that it is within reason for the WM's to enforce the full 30 card penalty.

Objective rules need to be put in place regarded desync errors and connectivity issues. Decisions not covered in the rules should approximate the rules as best as possible, and priority should be given to the ruling that correctly covers the most likely situation instead of the ruling that covers the situation that everyone agrees didn't happen.
