The problem with shards in war was never the rainbowness, but the fact that they are not available to all players equally. I think.
Shards are definitely banned for this war.  However I do not like this reasoning behind banning them everywhere - the same could be said for any other rare card.

The reason is because they're unbalanced.
So is Fire Bolt, so is Discord, so is Dimensional Shield, so is Graboid.  Banning shards while not banning the other OP cards is illogical.

When zanz adds cards there's often a period where we playtest for him, and he subsequently tweaks it. Having that card in War during the test phase isn't really fair to some teams, so they're usually just banned from pvp events (especially War) until they're more established. Given that the change occurred a couple days before bidding started, I'd say they'd fall in the unestablished camp.

Not to mention everyone would have to resubmit apps in the new format at best, and at worst we'd have to find some new Generals.

I'm definitely gonna have to get off my butt and grind before next Trials and War, though...  :P

I don't think we should compare those cards with the unfair advantage SoSac gives against most rushes if used in a death rush.

But all shards are obviously not as unbalanced as SoSac. I understand banning them in this war of course since they are newly modified, but at next war and/or PvP event I'd say you should allow most of the shards, since there are no real reason for banning them now that they are mono (Except for the few that are still OP like SoSac, SoFo and maybe the new SoP)
