War #5 - General Discussion

Seems like several people are considering joining Trials but aren't sure about the role they want to play in War.

If a Master appoints a General during War 6, can that Master still participate?  Does he/she have to fight for the element of which he/she is Master?  Is he/she bid upon by other Generals in the auction?

Barely retired and already starting trouble.  We have not even finished unpacking all our boxes yet.

The short answers are "No, irrelevant, irrelevant", and the reasons are for the situations you describe.  It is undesirable to have a Master participate for a different element, and any rule to prevent that would be unfair as it would eliminate competition on a desirable player.

That being said, I do not want to chase off Masters from participating in War.  We are doing what we can to alleviate the tedium of generalship.  We want this to be a positive experience for Masters, not a chore.

It used to be that players wanted to be Masters so they could be Generals in War...

I won't participate in trials exactly cause I wanna participate in War, as a regular member.

Personally, I like being general. The main reason is that I am guaranteed to represent the element I love. Plus, I get to decide who my teammates are.

Yeah, there is a lot more responsibility, but its worth it if you have the time.

A master who is not fighting for his/her side? That is so repulsive i cannot imagine anyone would want to do it.

Removing the short term ability to sub does more harm than good to the people who don't have everything in their lives planned out for weeks in advance.
