Why there are * near some player names of team  , , , (mine included) in the spreadsheet (Auction Status thread (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,31550.0.html))?

They denote players who have been bidded on by a master but are not on a team because other players bid on by that master have higher and/or equal bids to the player in question.  These players have not been outbid by other masters or if they have cannot fit onto that master's team due to the reasons stated above.

I have a question:  How, if at all, are the Sportsmanship Award and Deck nominees going to function this time?

The * means that the Team in whose column the player is standing currently has the winning bid on that player. (edit: That's wrong, it means that player is not on a team, but in your case it's misleading)
This means in your case that, if auction ended now, I (as General of Team Time) would get to choose 7 from the 8 players I have the winning bid on, who are the 7 players listed as "Team Members" plus you. I think the reason you are not listed as Team Member is that you are the furthest down in the Alphabet.

I have a question:  How, if at all, are the Sportsmanship Award and Deck nominees going to function this time?

There will be a Sportsmanship Award this War.  As teams are eliminated they will be asked to submit opponents who displayed Sportsmanship and the community will vote on who is most deserving.  I have high hopes we'll get this done this time around due to changes in the War timetable and the high level of activity of the current Masters.

As usual, Deck Helpers will ask each team to submit their favorite deck as they're eliminated.  The community will vote on the prettiest deck submitted and the winner will be added to the War Archives (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,461.0.html).

A question: sdpc will modify the vault permanently, or you have time to alter sdpc values without ruining the vault.

Spdc will be permanent at the end of the deck building phase. You can modify it as you wish until then.
